Paid for a three week car rental through Expedia - from the 30th September until today, the 19th October. Bearing mind it is a peak time - I played around with the dates to find a better deal and opted for a manual compact SUV for EUR271. Very reasonable! Upon check in, two ladies were infront and they were charged last minute for a Fiat convertible (little did they know it would be raining the next day..) for a 1 or 2 day rental at EUR160. I found this price to be quite high but again, they didn't pre book. For my booking, it turned out that there weren't many cars available at all, so, I was given a Peugeot 308 GT automatic. I didn't take out the optional extra insurance for no other reason than I was in a very safe area as well as being a safe driver. Having read some previous reviews on here, it worried me a lot that maybe I might be charged for even a simple scratch that could have been missed upon inspection of the car. So, I had done a recorded video of the car before leaving. Anyway, 3 weeks later and I've taken the car back which was very easy and straightforward. The check out guy was thorough as he should be, and all was fine - since the car was well taken care of anyway :) he had done a great job and was very welcoming and kind. Overall, great place, very friendly workers. The first man on the desk to check me in for the car, unfortunately I can't remember his name, but he was very nice, and wore a nice gold plated watch - the system was running slow and so we had to redo the check in process but I could tell he enjoyed his job and deserves a raise Sixt :) very welcoming and efficient. I will be returning as I need another rental and so won't hesitate to come back. Thank you :)
The experience could not have been better. We hired a 9 seater mini bus and saved nearly EUR100 over other hire companies. Breno and Jaoquim who handled the check-in and handover could not have been nicer or more helpful. I didnt catch the name if the guy we returned it to but he was just as friendly. If they are representative of the staff that Sixt employ then I will certainly use them again.
I gave the highest rating because the entire process, from reception, explanation of conditions, car inspection, to the return of the vehicle, went smoothly. Everything was well explained and accompanied. The entire team was super polite and cordial, qualities that are hard to find these days. From Diana at the counter, to the guy with the braids whose name I forgot, to Andre who received the vehicle. The whole team is 5 stars. I will certainly recommend the service and will use it again in the future.
We were recommended sixt by a friend, but after seeing some of these negative reviews we will admit we were a little anxious. Pick up went fine, the lady in the Lisbon centre was super friendly and gave us some great coffee recommendations. The car was very tidy, very fuel efficient and a pleasure to drive. Once we dropped our car off, we were helped straight away by Andre and Diana who had it all sorted for us within the hour with no issues whatsoever. Maybe the people in these reviews didn't look after their cars!
Don't hire from Sixt. I returned the car in perfect condition, but upon my return back home, they started emailing, saying I had returned the car with a damaged wheel. I had taken photos and a video of the car when i had dropped it back as they did not inspect it upon return. I sent the photos and video as proof that it was returned in perfect condition. After some back and forth, they basically implied I was lying and i had manipulated or photoshopped the photos and video i sent them. They then took money from my account which I eventually got my bank to reverse. This company goes beyond having just customer service issues, they have no morals. Seriously avoid them.
The lady at the reception was not friendly at all. She had a horrible attitude from the moment we entered she greeted us with sarcasm and attitude. Every time we asked for a normal question she would reply with sarcasm and irony. Ofcourse has nothing to do with the car we rented but just as a customer service this was a horrible first impression to your paying customers. She really needs a training on common kindness and politeness
Surprised by many positive reviews, I found my experience with SIXT Albufeira stressful and unpleasant. Despite purchasing the "Minimum excess" insurance online, on pick up I was told that it didn't cover wheels, tires, and interior, which was only available for an additional fee. Why not making it clear and/or available online? After I paid the rental + insurances + deposit, the system crashed and neither my payment returned nor my rental was paid for. Staff member Juan insisted I pay again, leading to double charges on my card for everything. I only got the refund for the unsuccessful payment after 30 days and several contacts with my bank. After that we were given a car with an excessively dirty interior. The passenger seat and door were soiled. And Bruno, the staff member, made his best to prevent us from seeing it - he put the car in the darkest part of the parking lot and pretended not to understand our request to put it under the light for inspection. We had to refuse taking this car as it was too dirty to sit in and after some unpleasant arguments with the staff we were given another, a nice and clean one. At drop-off Marcio, another staff member, told me rather rudely "Who told you the drop-off is here? Move it to the lower level!" Then he asked me to put the car on the brightest spot on the parking lot and wondered if I had full insurance. I confirmed and then he suggested that it was not theirs, but from some third party. I told him that it was from SIXT for sure and then he asked me to prove it with papers as if he didn't have this information in his tablet. It was very disrespectful and rude - forcing me to prove it to him when he obviously had this information. The inspection on return was really thorough - Marcio inspected everything and for some reason marked that both exterior and interior were "averagely soiled", though in fact they weren't as I washed the car before returning it. Overall, the experience was marked by system errors, unclean vehicles, and poor customer service. I do not recommend SIXT in Albufeira; it was my worst car rental experience to date.
