we rented a rental car on a website for our stay in sao Miguel, we had funchal drive, we thought it was at the airport directly but in fact no, it is not very far from the airport and the rental agency is a little further but when you call them to ask them where they are located they explain to you that a shuttle comes to pick you up to go there! And that is really a good thing for the time being. The rental prices are really well placed and the cars recent and in good condition! I highly recommend this rental agency with very welcoming and warm staff! thank you again for your service.

Excellent vehicles. Newer company so the cars are brand new last year. The shuttle was available for the airport to and from. I advise knowing how to drive a manual and be a confident driver. The benefits to having a car instead of shuttle are extreme. Excellent price, fair pricing for their full coverage insurance and we kept fuel at the level from beginning. Perfect. Don't fall for the gimmick names right at the airport. It's worth saving a few dollars and getting something nice at a great price.

Rental car was in great condition, which is often not the case on Islands. Price was much cheaper (almost half) then airport rentals, but the shuttle wait was more than 15 minutes. The rental office is about 10 minutes from the airport. The entrance is a bit hidden, so pay attention when returning the car.

This was a great experience! We rented the car and picked it up same day. Check in and check out process were easy and quick, and the car itself was perfect for exploring the island. Bring a Visa card though if you don't want to pay for the extra insurance as they put a hold on the card and they accept Visa. Overall I highly recommend!

Very friendly staff. Shuttle service to and from the airport worked great. Everything very professional. When you pick up and drop off the vehicle, you will receive an email with all the relevant data and the process is very quick. The vehicles are washed and cleaned immediately upon delivery. We also rented a car on Faial and Pico from another company. Here the vehicles were dirty and there was no confirmation when they were returned. Processing took forever. 5 stars for Funchal Drive and full recommendation.

During my stay on the island of Sao Miguel, I decided to use this car rental service. I made the reservation through the portal discovercars.com and paid for additional insurance myself. Regarding the car rental company, everything was fine. Upon arriving at the local airport, you call the number in the email, and the staff will pick you up at the airport and take you to the rental office along with your luggage. Afterward, you fill out the necessary documents for renting the car in their office. You need a passport or ID and a driver s license drivers under 24 should be prepared for a slightly higher price as they fall into the young driver category. Additionally, you need a CREDIT card (not a debit card) both the company Autounion and the website discovercars.com warn about this in advance. The payment for the car is made with the credit card, and a deposit is also blocked (in my case, 900). You then receive the contract via email and photos of the car via WhatsApp, showing the condition of the car and any potential damages. They let us inspect the car, and we took our own photos as well. We specifically rented a Citroen C3 with automatic transmission, and this car was absolutely sufficient and suitable for traveling on the island and its terrain. There are quite a few narrow roads on the island, especially in the towns, so I recommend choosing a similarly sized car. You ll appreciate the automatic transmission when driving uphill in hairpin turns and hilly terrain. When returning the car, everything went smoothly. The staff checked the car s condition and the fuel level, and then you sign a return form, which is immediately sent to your email. Afterward, they drive you back to the airport. The blocked deposit was returned to my account in about 5 days. Overall rating: Staff: 10/10 friendly, helpful, and explain everything Vehicle: 10/10 clean and new Price: 10/10 compared to other rental companies on the island, this one had reasonable prices Deposit return: 9/10 could have been faster, but everything was fine anyway

Very nice employees! Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time for the shuttle when we picked us up from the airport. But when we left the station for the airport everything was great! Since we had to pick up the car an hour before opening time, we were charged 35 euros, which I find a bit expensive for just a few minutes. Our car was great, but I can recommend taking a car with more horsepower, otherwise it would be really difficult on some mountains.
