MicAuto Rent-a-Car in Arrifes

We could have used the big name rental but went with a local business. The employees were very nice and made you feel like you were a VIP. Our car was new and we had no problem with it. Returning the rental was easy and we had no extra charges.

I recently had the pleasure of renting a car from MicAuto Rent-a-Car, and I couldn't be more satisfied with their service. Located just 5 minutes away from the airport, they provide a convenient and free shuttle service, making the transition from flight to vehicle seamless. The staff was exceptionally fast, friendly, and efficient, ensuring a smooth rental process. The car was in great condition and met all my needs perfectly. I highly recommend MicAuto Rent-a-Car for their outstanding service and convenience. 100% recommended!

TRUSTWORTHY! I think this is the most important thing, as I've read MANY negative reviews for other car rental companies from the island. This was my #1 fear, that we'll end up being unfairly charged for pretend damages as it seems to be a fairly common practice with other firms in Sao Miguel. I did not sign their contract until I first took a ton of photos and filmed the car at pickup and checked the damages already recorded on the contract. We also took photos and filmed the car before returning it (so that the date and time showed up on every photo). (Beware: I rented the car online through carflexi and although I specified that I wanted to pick up and drop the car at the airport, this was not the case. After reserving the car, I got a message from carflexi confirming my reservation and advising that Micauto will pick me up from the airport. Also, the amount of the franchise quoted on carjet before making the reservation was 1000 Euro, in the instructions received after reserving the car the amount was 2300 Euro. I will avoid carflexi from now on). Leaving that aside, Micauto picked us up at the airport in maximum 5 min. after we called from the airport following the landing. The driver was very friendly and good natured. Same guy drove us back at 4 30 am on the day we returned the car. We rented their cheapest car for 5 people and instead of a Citroen C3 got an Opel Corsa. I'm not sure whether the original or the replacement had equal engine power. The car sort of struggled on the curves on slopes with 4 adults and a kid and I had to downshift often to the 1st gear. It was a clean car with about 43000km if I remember correctly. They also mentioned to me that it would've been cheaper to rent directly from them instead of through carflexi, so if this review convinced you they're ok, I would suggest you to give them a call directly and find out what price they're charging vs. online car rental websites. Good service and helpful staff. Good quality, new cars. The only slight downside is that tgey are not located at the airport, but they supply a shuttle bus for customers as and when needed for the 10-minute maximum ride to and from their car collection point.

Staff is friendly, price is reasonable, all went smooth. Do not expect to get a Ferrari with 30 euro, yes the car will be small but good enough to drive around unless you are planning to go off road.

Well, let's be honest. The car rental service here is abysmal. The cars are mainly with manual gear shifters, and automatic will set you back 120% extra! It is a plain rip-off. The car itself was very very cheap (we got a Peugeot) even though I went for a more premium line when ordering online. It had probably had 1L engine and could barely drive uphill. On the plus side, the car drives, and the rental agency will pick you up and drop you off at the airport.

Top class car rental company. They were flexible with pick up when I missed a flight. Shuttle from the airport was quick and easy. Staff friendly and price good. No hard sell on the insurance. Automatic Citreon had a few scratches upon pickup but everything was clearly marked, so no issues on return. The car performed perfectly. I would definitely rent from them again, no question.

Perfect rental- our car was just 5 days old! Antonio and Vanessa were prompt, helpful, patiently waited on our delayed flight, kind, answered the phone when called, spoke perfect English. Their shuttle will take you to their office in an industrial zone just 3-4 minutes drive from PDL airport. They were prompt too in returning us to the airport, which is always a bit of a worry for me. Very pleased. We will definitely rent through them again and I see they have online booking, which I will do next time. Great service, great car, reasonable pricing... excellent experience. We highly recommend!
