Guerin provided excellent service for our rental. Although we initially booked an SUV, we were able to negotiate for a Volvo V60 AWD, which made the trip even better. We found a few charging stations during our travels, and for a whole week of driving, we only spent 20EUR on fuel. The typical concerns we have with car rentals no longer apply - the world is going electric, though the Algarve still has some catching up to do with charging infrastructure. The rental agreement was straightforward, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

After hours of searching and reading reviews of various rental companies I decided to go ahead with Guerin. The booking process was straight forward and I got a good price for a family car (estate). I chose the basic cover and booked my own insurance separately. I checked in online before my trip providing all info required. On arrival I was greeted by friendly staff and directed to a self checkout machine. I had to confirm a couple bit of info again which took no more than 5 minutes. I was given my keys to an upgraded vehicle, ford kuga which couldn't have been better with 2 young children and me being 6"8. Car worked perfectly. It had a number of scratch and dents. They don't come with you to do a check on the car beforehand and tell you to take photos and videos of car conditions. The car park is tight so getting out was a little tricky but we were away in no time. Drop off was even more straight forward. Greeted by a very friendly lady who took her time to talk to the kids and ask out our trip. And went to get us a trolly as we had car seats, suitcases and a travel cot to transport, going above and beyond! A quick once over of the car condition and a signature and we were away. The security block was taken off my credit card almost immediately. I will absolutely be using Guerin again. Best rental experience I've had by a long way. I don't using leave reviews but felt this one really deserved the positive review!

Unlike some other reviews, we had a positive experience renting a car from Guerin at Faro Airport. Heytor Machado was exceptionally friendly and helpful when we picked up the vehicle. The car had pre-existing damage on the front bumper, which was noted in their system, and we also took photos of it, so we weren't charged for it afterwards. Dropping off the car in Portimao was straightforward, although the inspection was thorough. There were some faint scratches that were barely visible. Since we picked up the car at night, we couldn't see them then, and they are not noticeable during the day unless you look very closely. Fortunately, they were within acceptable limits, so we weren't charged extra, though I did feel a bit stressed about it and I think those were also preexisting.

SCAM! I don't write reviews much but this is pure scam. We rented a car, took pictures of all existing damage. after dropping it off early in the morning because of an early flight, we used the key drop service. A day later they took 560EUR from our credit card for damages that were already there. Still fighting to get our deposit back but they just ignore us and our proof. Never ever rent a car here.

Fantastic company to deal with, we had an issue with the rental car. I contacted the dedicated support line my call was answered immediately, I explained my situation with the car, 45 minutes later a truck was there collected the car, I was then in a taxi supplied by Guerin back to Faro for a replacement car. I was back on the road again in 90 minutes. I must say I was very impressed with the service from start to finish. I've used most of the rental companies in Faro airport and surrounds at this stage and I can safely say Guerin are by far the best! They delivered excellent value, service and customer care. Their employees on the ground are a credit to the company, always a smile and nothing a problem. Highly recommend Guerin

Nice and easy to locate , walking distance from airport exit . Full tank of petrol . Nice and clean car . Keys were ready . Drop off accommodated out of hours on return. Cost couple hundred quid for a Toyota crv hybrid . Fitted one large suitcase and 3 cabin size suitcases along with 3 hand luggage bags. Fuel efficient. Lovely drive with air con . Insurance and all addional costs included in the price hired for 4 days .

They do a great service. The only thing, I had to go around 3 times lol as I couldn't find how to get to them when you have to drop the car. So, you go to the airport parking lot, but ignore the last sign and take it right at the very end. Hope that helps.

I must confess I was a bit nervous after reading some negative reviews here. (And it was a bit too late to change our plan. :) ) Thank goodness my experience with Guerin was positive. I did an online pre-check in earlier but somehow the system was not updated with my details and I had to do it again at the terminal. No issue at all as the information required was exactly the same thing I was asked on their web page before. The young staff was there to assist if needed. He spoke good English. After collecting the car, we were struggling a little with the GPS system and I approached the counter staff for help. She (the branch manager, I think) was patient and guided us a few ways to connect to the car using Apple Car Play and the BMW app. In the end it worked and that saved us some money getting an additional GPS gadget. Car returning was hassle free. As soon as I stopped at their drop off point, their staff approached us and started the process immediately. He did a thorough job checking the car and ticked his checklist on his tablet before asking for my signature to complete the process. He assured us that our deposit would be cancelled/returned to us automatically through the system. Everything was done professionally and efficiently.

You have to go to other agencies than theirs... I pick up the car and no one from them comes to take the tour with me. I check the bodywork, take photos of the damage present. Leaving the airport, the tire pressure light is on, I check at a gas station, the pressures are good. I bring the car back to the airport, I am told that the compressor to inflate the tires is not present and I am charged 360. While the famous compressor was not present at the start. En partant de laeroport, le voyant de pression de pneus est allume, je verifie a une station service, les pressions sont bonnes. Je ramene la voiture a laeroport, on me dit que le compresseur pour gonfler les pneus nest pas present et on me facture 360 . Alors que le fameux compresseur netait pas present au depart. Laeroport ne veut rien savoir et demande de voir avec le service client, qui discute avec laeroport et qui ne cherche pas a comprendre ma version, je discute avec la patronne de lagence qui est daccord avec moi mais que ca doit etre gere avec le service client. Du coup, dans tout les cas, les 360 du compresseur en platine/or 18 carats est a ma charge. Petit conseil: faut demander une impression du contrat, faire le tour de la voiture (et meme letat des pneus, si ya la roue de secours, le compresseur, lantenne, la radio et jen passe), tout noter et retourner au bureau pour leur faire signer a leur tour... Bon en resume, en francais, leur pratique ca sappelle du vol...

Never again. The van had a number of scratches and signs of wear and tear. I photographed all of the van before driving off but in return they spotted a tiny scratch on the bumper. It was pure luck that my photograph showed it otherwise they would no doubt tried to charge me. They then insisted it is my responsibility to send them the photo. I will never book with them again and strongly recommend that if you do you photograph your rental in detail because if not they will try to rip you off. Sadly this happens a lot in Portugal.

Parallelement, sur la fin du sejour, ce fut les temoins danomalies du systeme de freinage qui sont apparus. Lors de la remise du vehicule, la demoiselle qui a receptionne la voiture nous a gentiment signale que ce netait pas son probleme et que ce netait pas non plus le job de ses collegues de controler le vehicule lors de la remise... Donc, en fait, si je comprends bien, comme personne ne fait le suivi, ces voitures sont louees... jusqua la panne. Sympa pour lutilisateur en bout de chaine...

I rented a car from Guerin at Faro airport between 22 and 30 September 2024. Everything was normal during the rental. I left the car at Faro airport at around 4:30 in the morning, so the car was not inspected when the car was returned, as expected when a car is returned outside of business hours. A day later - 1 October - they sent an email (from an email address that does not accept replies) informing me that they had charged me for damage to a wheel rim ( 214.50) and charged my credit card immediately before giving me a chance to respond. I do not recognise this damage, but the charge is already on my card. I asked for photos of how the wheel rim looked before and after my rental and only on 15 October did I receive a photo of how the wheel supposedly looked after I returned the vehicle. I asked for a photo of the wheel rim before I picked up the car again and Im still waiting for that photo today (November 4th). Moral of the story: Be careful when renting from Guerin, especially if you are returning the car outside of business hours. I had 2 more rentals booked with Guerin this year on October 18th (2 days in Porto) and December 14th (6 days in Faro) and I cancelled them and booked with other rental cars.

unfriendly liars! They were very unfriendly and pushy to take extra local insurance although I already had full coverage from booking agency. I said NO. I got a stinking dented rundown car. At drop off they said perfect condition ... now I get a bill of 1180 euros!!! Disgusting people they are, genuine thiefs! Dont rent there!

When we picked up the car, a grumpy lady tried to sell us an insurance policy of 153. We had already taken out insurance through booking and were therefore refused. Therefore 1 star less. Car was great! Had no problems & the return went well. Of course, it is smart to always take photos before driving away.

As the flight from Lisbon to Faro is also not far behind, my flight was brought forward by 1 hour and they wouldnt let me pick up the vehicle that was already available. I asked if I could pay the one hour difference and they said I had to pay an extra night! I dont recommend it to anyone! Cheap is expensive! They really dont know how to retain customers!

Cheater! When we dropped off the rental car everything was checked and clarified, the employee told us everything was fine and wished us a nice evening. A day later an invoice for 68 EUR arrives for an alleged damage we caused, which is complete nonsense. Why wasnt this already regulated at the time of submission? Since then (5 weeks now) they have kept my deposit and not refunded it, even though we have already paid for the alleged damage. The customer service is completely useless (the answers on Google Maps also refer to this customer service), you dont get an answer. Worst experience ever.

Seitdem (mittlerweile 5 Wochen) haben sie meine Kaution behalten und nicht wieder zuruckgebucht, obwohl wir den angeblichen Schaden schon langst bezahlt haben. We booked a rental car in September. We were satisfied with the employees on site and with the car. When we returned the car, the employee discovered that there was something wrong with the car key: the mechanical emergency key inside (in case the battery is dead) was missing; he had broken out. Was this already the case when you started renting the vehicle? We didnt check this at the beginning. We also didnt notice anything happen during our use that caused the metal key to break out. Als wir den Wagen zuruckgaben, stellte der Mitarbeiter fest, dass am Autoschlussel etwas defekt war: der darin steckende mechanische Notschlussel (falls die Batterie leer ist) fehlte; er war herausgebrochen. War das schon bei Beginn der Fahrzeugmiete der Fall? Wir haben das bei Beginn nicht kontrolliert. Wir haben auch nicht bemerkt, dass wahrend unserer Nutzung etwas passiert ist, wodurch der Metall-Schlussel herausgebrochen wurde. Wir mussten ca. 900 fur die Reparatur bezahlen. Das erschien uns sehr hoch. Eine Rechnung uber die durchgefuhrte Reparatur haben verlangt, aber wir nicht bekommen. Unsere E-mails dazu wurden nicht beantwortet.
