We had to find a new car rental on a Wednesday evening as our original rental was a scam. We called Lagorent and although they were closed Rui came to the location and quickly cleaned two cars that we could rent for ten days. Price is a bit more than the cheap rentals, but the service and quality make it more than worth it. Will only rent here when in Algarve! Thanks Rui!
Quick and uncomplicated service, we arrived without a car reservation at Lagos office and we were able to rent a car at a great price better than other competitors in the area. It is possible to return the car on the way to Faro airport at this location and Rui, one of the guys who works there was very kind to give me a ride back to my hotel after returning the car. After less than a week I was also charged the fees for the highway, in less time than I expected. Highly recommended!
Do NOT rent with Lagorent under any circumstances. I rarely feel compelled to write negative reviews like this, but the unbelievably horrible customer service from this company has left me no choice. No one was at the rental office at our arranged time and we had to wait outside for 30 minutes, no apology given when they finally showed up. The car was given with an empty tank (the empty tank light was on), we pointed this out they said that was typical. The car battery proceeded to die TWICE, the first time being within the first 10 minutes of having the rental. They didn't pick up their emergency phone line AT ALL or answer any emails, we relied on asking locals around the area to help us jumpstart the car. When we emailed to seek a solution or compensation they said "these things happen with cars". After the second time the battery died, they ignored all of our emails entirely. Update: After over a week of ignoring our emails, they have responded ONLY because we finally got around to leaving a negative review. Cherry on top is that they still aren't willing to compensate for this, they've just offered a DISCOUNT on the NEXT rental. They are aware I do not live in Portugal and wouldn't be renting from them again. Photos are where we had to ask locals in Portugal to help us when our car battery died, since Lagorent did not pick up their office or emergency line (at 1:00pm).
tl;dr Do not use Lagorent, this is the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. They gave us a messed up car (broke down twice) and then have completely ignored our emails asking for compensation. We did a bunch of research to find a car rental and we decided to avoid all the bigger companies and go with Lagorent cause they had a 4.7 star. We rented an automatic car. They showed up 30 mins later and gave us the car with no gas in it. So we had to drive over to the gas station 2 mins away. After filling up the tank, the battery was somehow dead. We tried to call Lagorent's emergency line as well as their normal line and they didn't pick up on either, even though we had literally just been at Lagorent 10 minutes earlier. We needed to have 6 locals help us and then eventually finally found someone with jump cables. We emailed them complaining that they didn't pick up their emergency line and they just explained "these things happen with cars". 2 days later, while driving through Lagos, the car randomly died again, but this time we were blocking traffic. Again, we needed locals to come debug the car issue (turned out to be a loose battery charging cable) and then this time, Lagorent picked up their emergency line and somebody was able to come fix the issue. Afterwards, we were following up on our emails to express how dangerous this was, how unprofessional it was that the battery cable wasn't checked, how they had not picked up their emergency line the first time despite being a 2 minute drive away, and how lucky we were that the car had never died in an area that wasn't surrounded by super nice locals. We asked for compensation and they said they were talking with their supervisors but now it's been 2 weeks and they're completely ignoring our emails now.
We booked a Lagorent car for 2 weeks. They were fantastic! There was someone to meet us at the airport even though our flight was delayed for 1 hour. We went to pick up our car from the compound and turnaround time was about 20 minutes to do all the paperwork. No pressure at all to take out extra insurance. No hassle leaving the car back at the airport for our very early morning flight.
Friendly staff, comfortable car, and great opportunity to pick up in Lagos and drop off at Faro airport. Only disappointing part is that you don't actually pay for the km driven. After adding more gas to the tank than I eventually ended up using, they were not willing to subtract the costs of extra gas from the final sum. I wish they had communicated this clearly upfront.
Meet and greet at the airport, taken to car rental place, and then in reverse on the way back! Friendly service, car was a great wee thing, no hassle or upsales. All round delighted. Will use again next time in Faro :)
Excellent service with a very good price! An external service provider (Zest) booked me a Lagorent car and everything was perfect. As I booked only 2 days in advance, then almost all other companies were sold out, which made this experience even more enjoyable. Also got to extend for 1 day without any hassle. After returning the car I even got a free drop-off to the airport, a nice touch!
