Our SIXT Branch is quite visible and with an easy access for both individual customers and families. Take detailed pictures all over the vehicle when picking up, including under skirts, tyres, roof etc. They will try to find damage when you return. Slow process to collect the van - join first queue to sort paper work, then a further queue to collect the van, took 50 minutes, and the staff were really not in a hurry. When returning the van a bit of damage was quickly identified on the tyre wall, marked and photographed. Luckily we took very detailed pictures when we picked up the vehicle which showed the damage to be existing already. To be fair they checked with a supervisor and all sorted. If we didn't have the pre-rent pictures I dread to think what they would charge for a new tyre. Fantastic experience at Sixt. Pickup was very professional and courteous. My car was a practically new Peugeot, about 9,000 km. I picked up at Faro airport, dropped off in downtown Lisbon after having the car for 4 days. It was an OUTSTANDING car! For those who are the complaining type - no matter where you rent, GET FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE WITH NO DEDUCTIBLE! Yes, it costs more, and yes, its completely worth it for the peace of mind. Every parked car in Lisbon has a bump or scratch on one of the corners. Parking is ridiculous. Ignore the haters and don't be afraid to rent here. When I dropped off the car, I literately walked away from it because I had "full coverage". I watched another car get dropped and the agent at Sixt went over the car with a fine toothed comb - as they should!

As with lots of other reviews here, after taking really good care of the car, we have been charged 200 euro for "damage" to the tire (conveniently the one part of the car we didn't have insurance on). After we complained and sent a picture of the tire from when we picked it up where you could see they were old and scratched, they removed part of the charge (for taking the car out of service for the day) but refused to acknowledge the photo and went ahead and took the payment off our card. We have used Sixt in many countries as they have a good reputation but honestly at least in Portugal you may as well go with a cheaper company and get the same experience.

If you are thinking about renting a car here, consider this facts. they will charge you the damage or wear that you did not even make. As you guys can see other reviews they will scam you like other cheap rental car company. but this is Sixt I always trusted this company. I reached out regarding this issue to SIXT where the owner of this business replies to everyone has same experience. IT WILL NOT BE RESOLVED they said even though I took a video before I picked up it is not evidence. it's a joke. I literally have no reason to lie. my credit card company is really good and will cover the damage but this is just not right and let's be fair. This is really just you can tell immediately they are trying to scam if you have common sense. Since it seems like only toward foreigners it's not just about rental car company reputation but also reputation about your own country Portugal. Because of this experience I will never even consider going there again or if there's anyone want to go, I ll not recommend. Please see the big picture. its maybe beneficial for short term cash flow but not long run. I even got charged bolt that I did not even see. I ve been renting with sixt a lot but never ever experience this scam activity. Lucky my credit card company has collision coverage but this is just not right. tire condition was the condition you MUST replace immediately, car was stinky. Reviews from other sixt loction, if you drop off at the airport, most likely you will experience this scam. The local (center Lisbon) location doesn't have this scam experience. I don't want anyone to experience this scam and only have good image of traveling. I really don't understand this scam, it's killing whole business and image of own country.

Whilst my initial collection with Andre (same name as my Mum so I remembered the name) was excellent, after 4 days of rental I get a report that new damage is present; dint on the front bumper down to the primer, 3 areas on the roof and the rear c pillar. Luckily I take photos when I collect the vehicle and I can see the front bumper and the side damage but very rarely do I check the roof. I rent lots of vehicles on a regular basis and have never been subjected to such practices as I have been with Sixt at Faro airport, it is my first time renting with Sixt in Faro, I usually go to a competitor but believe me I will not be returning. Luckily I have cover with my credit card but for those unlucky, I wish you look in getting this resolved.

Do not use this company! I returned a car with zero damage and the lady was very rude to my family and I. They have since just taken money from my account for a slight mark on a tyre which was practically bald anyway and needed replacing. They have also tried to claim for tiny little scratches on the bumper which were already there. It's a a con, don't use them!!

I just delivered my rented VW Taigo in the Faro Airport after 7 smooth driving days. The pick up in Lisbon was so smooth and easy, and very friendly. The delivery was made indoor at the car park so neither the Sixt representative or myself saw the tiny surface scratches at the bottom plastic front. (Last picture) Now to the point, the delivery process, not friendly at all, the Sixt representative was arrogant and insinuated strongly that the scratches was made now. They are not, I'm fully insured so this will not cost me anything no matter the outcome, but what an unpleasant experience.

Car breaks down in Portimao, I have to wait for maintenance and now I have to wait for a taxi to Faro, so a day of vacation is lost and I have to return through the mountains in the dark or book a hotel room. Its a shame that its not possible to get another car at sixt in Portimao, plus my shoes and pants are wet, its been going on for two hours and Im not in the taxi yet, which can take up to an hour

I strongly advise against this agency. We waited over 2.5 hours to get our car. No information or estimated waiting time. After completing the satisfaction questionnaire I was contacted to offer me compensation. Something I never got despite three reminders. And the icing on the cake, I have been charged twice since then 5 euros and 22 euros without any particular reason and without any other information. Absolutely avoid!!

Worst Sixt branch ever. Handover was quick and no damage report was given to the customer. But then when you hand it over, you head straight for alleged new damage to the tire. During the delivery it is stated as no damage, the surprise comes later when the tire including fancy fees appears on the credit card. Now the focus here is clearly on cashing in on the customer rather than honest work. Well that only allows one thing as a Platinum customer and it was with Sixt.

Phantasiegebuhren auf der Kreditkarte auftauchen. Nun hier steht ganz klar das Abkassieren des Kunden im Vordergrund anstatt ehrliche Arbeit. Nun das lasst nur eins zu als Platinum Kunde war es das mit Sixt.

We booked a vehicle through ADAC including all insurance. When we picked it up, we were told that an amount of almost 100 would be blocked on the credit card as a precautionary measure if the vehicle was not returned with a full tank. When documenting the existing damage, it was said that scratches less than 5cm long were irrelevant. Several scratches were not documented for this reason. When we returned the vehicle, we pointed out that the vehicle had a full tank of fuel, which was also checked. Otherwise, after a superficial check, we were told that everything was fine and that we would receive the return confirmation by email. Shortly later we actually received an email with a return confirmation, in which the full tank was also noted. The document also stated that we did not want to wait for the results of the audit, which is incorrect. It was also stated that there was new damage, namely scratches less than 5cm long. We then went back to the office and pointed out that we should be assigned damages that were considered irrelevant when we picked them up. We were then assured that we had no problems to worry about. Several days later, we received a bill that included the full amount for refueling, even though we received written confirmation that the vehicle was delivered with a full tank of fuel. Two emails with a request to correct the error and refund the overcharged amount have now received no response after almost 3 weeks. In this respect, we cannot recommend this provider. Update: After the original review, Sixt contacted us, apologized and refunded the overcharged amount. For this reason and because we were satisfied with the rental car, we are correcting the rating to 3 stars.

Bei der Abholung wurde uns gesagt, dass vorsorglich ein Betrag von knapp 100 auf der Kreditkarte geblockt wird, falls das Fahrzeug nicht voll betankt zuruckgebracht wird. Bei der Dokumentation der vorhandenen Schaden hiess es, dass Kratzer unter 5cm Lange irrelevant seien. Mehrere Kratzer wurden mit dieser Begrundung nicht dokumentiert. Bei der Ruckgabe des Fahrzeugs haben wir darauf hingewiesen, dass das Fahrzeug voll betankt ist, was auch kontrolliert wurde. Ansonsten wurde uns nach einer oberflachlichen Kontrolle gesagt, dass alles in Ordnung sei, und wir die Ruckgabebestatigung per mail erhalten. Wir erhielten dann kurz spater tatsachlich eine mail mit einer Ruckgabebestatigung, in der auch die volle Betankung vermerkt war. Ausserdem enthielt das Dokument die Aussage, dass wir nicht auf das Ergebnis der Prufung hatten warten wollen, was jedoch unzutreffend ist. Daneben war angegeben, dass neue Schaden vorhanden seien, namlich Kratzer unter 5cm Lange. Wir sind dann zuruck zum Buro gegangen, und haben darauf hingewiesen, dass uns Schaden zugeordnet werden sollen, die man bei Abholung als irrelevant ansah. Uns wurde daraufhin versichert, dass wir keine Probleme zu befurchten hatten. Mehrere Tage spater erhielten wir die Abrechnung, in der der volle Betrag fur die Betankung enthalten war, obwohl uns schriftlich bestatigt wurde, dass das Fahrzeug voll betankt abgegeben wurde. Zwei mails mit der Bitte den Fehler zu korrigieren und den zu viel abgerechneten Betrag zu erstatten, blieben nach mittlerweile knapp 3 Wochen ohne jede Reaktion. Insofern konnen wir diesen Anbieter nicht empfehlen. Update: Nach der ursprunglichen Bewertung hat sich Sixt gemeldet, sich entschuldigt und den zu viel berechneten Betrag erstattet. Daher und weil wir mit dem Leihwagen zufrieden waren, korrigieren wir die Bewertung auf 3 Sterne.

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with a Sixt Faro employee. Our case is as follows: We booked a car at Sixt Faro (airport) via Rental Car Check. When we checked the rental car, we paid for the all-round carefree package with all services. Now we have seen an additional booking from Faro Sixt (494.92 Fr) for insurance, which we solved at Rental Car Check. My husbands credit card didnt work because he didnt know the pin anymore, so we had to give our bank card. The Sixt employee told us that the deposit is now more. Total 808.29 euros (instead of 300 euros deposit) We are sure that he didnt say anything about taking out further insurance. He also pulled the same stunt on my parents. In the end, the employee recorded insurance without our consent under the pretext of using another card. If this case is resolved to our satisfaction, we will of course delete the entry. Die gleiche Nummer hat er auch bei meinen Eltern durchgezogen. Am Schluss hat der Mitarbeiter im Vorwand von einem anderen Karteneinsatz eine Versicherung ohne unsere Zustimmung verbucht. Wenn sich dieser Fall zu unserer Zufriedenheit lost, loschen wir naturlich den Eintrag. Schon letztes Jahr wollte Sixt Faro glaube es waren 1000 Euro Kaution obwohl ich extra etwas mehr bezahlt habe fur das Auto das die Kaution bei nur 300 Euro lag das hat zumindest geklappt nach etwa 3/4 stund mit Voucher zeigen usw.... Sixt Faro nie wieder gleiches sagt meine Mutter und Schwester nur negative Erfahrungen gemacht
