We had a Renault Clio with hotel delivery. It was the perfect car for the mountains of Madeira. Everything was fine. The service was good.
A great experience! They were kind, they didn't try to sell us (unnecessary) extras (we booked via sunnycars) Extra driver was included: all was as we expected. One thing: on the day of arrival they were understaffed, so we had to wait about 30 minutes (one hour after landing) at the airport before the shuttle arrived. It also took some time before we received the car as we were last in line. However, returning the car took about 5 minutes, and we were brought right away back to the airport.
Very professional. The guy explained the whole procedure to us in great detail. I had a snag with my credit card limit and he helped me resolve it. Overall simple and fast procedure. I recommend it and if I were to return to Funchal I would go back to them
1h long wait upon arrival at the airport, no response from the contact number, nobody picks up the phone...the car we got was a corpse, the breaks squeaking and scratching (which is really not a good thing with the roads on Madeira), the warning sign for engine oil change was on from the beginning but clearly ignored. The car had scratches and damages all over, I have never had a rental car in such a bad condition before. The lady made pictures around the car when we received the car, which I found positive. However, upon returning the car she started closely inspecting the car for new damages, and hoped to find something among the many, many scratches and dents that was not on her pictures. Luckily I also made pictures myself when we received the car and so could prove that also this damage was already there. Very annoying and bad experience, and it wasn't even a cheap rental.
Absolutely incredible service from start to finish. Dropped off at our hotel, car was great. It had a few minor marks on which they said to take photos of and already had them noted down at their end. They were friendly, polite and professional. I'd 100% use them again. They also dropped us at the hotel when we were finished with the car.
staff were really friendly and sent us photos of previous damage that had been done to the car. We also took our own photos before leaving. When we returned the car, the man was exceptionally friendly. He looked around the car and confirmed that we had returned it in the same condition that we had received it. The car was good to drive, and we were happy with the whole experience. We were even offered a lift back, which was really appreciated. Would recommend using this company.
This was the absolute WORST experience I've ever had with a car rental. We arrived at the airport really late. Before we boarded our plane, they started sending messages on what's up asking for pictures of our credit card. We explained to them that we would sort everything out upon our arrival, but they insisted they needed to do it then because they would be closed. We paid extra for after-hours service. However, when we arrived at the airport, they completely ignored our calls and WhatsApp messages, even though the messages were being read. So, at two o'clock in the morning, we had to get a taxi to our accommodation. The next day, they came to pick us up and gave us a different car, one that was not suitable at all for Madeira. According to them, on our return there was a scratch on a plastic part at the front, for which they charged us 290 euros. Over the phone, the lady was talking to her boss and kept telling him that we were not from Portugal, implying we had no choice but to pay this excessive amount for damage. We have no idea how that scratch happened; it could have been there before. The worst part is that they took no responsibility for leaving us stranded at the airport at two in the morning. They didn't refund us the money for collecting the car at the airport or for the taxi. Apparently, we have to write an email and make a request, but you can imagine how that will go. In the meantime, they have cashed the 290 euros. Do not, under any circumstances, rent from this company. They are a scam.
Nice and smooth experience and I can fully recommend this rental... They offered me pick-up in Funchal, cause we're already there, firstly for extra pay, but after I rejected they did it for free. Pick-up was easy (of course you have to have a credit card, what is absolutely ussual in car rentals all over the world). They nicely offered me full coverage, I rejected, cause I've got my personal. We checked car together and made photos of all scratches/damages. Car was absolutely fine, has about 30k km. We've got medium size (Renault Clio), which was just about EUR1/day more expensive, so if you complaining about power in Madeira hills don't rent the smallest car. We've got it for 6 days and travel trough all the islands without any problems. Car was very clean and ready for it. Return was even smoother, just 5-10 minutes, quick check of car, packing our stuff to shuttle and go to the airport. I've been renting more cars all over the Europe and this was one of much better experiences. Deposit was already back on account in next working day. When I read these comments I couldn't believe. If you renting a car in southern Europe, specialy on islands with narrow roads and southern parking/driving behavior without full cover insurance it's like climbing mountains in flipflops :-D I can fully recommend and it was one of my better experiences with car rentals...
