Very nice walk tour ( about three hours) of the old town part of Funchal. Vitor is a very nice and knowledgeable person, with good vibe and continous smile.
My overall experience with Sixt was not positive. I booked my car online in advance of my trip to pick up my car at noon on Sept 21st, and return Sept 23rd at 8pm. When I arrived to the Funchal center pickup, the desk worker told me she had changed my drop off time to 7pm as the staff onsite leave at 7pm. I told her this would not work for me as I needed it until 8pm. I was proposing to my girlfriend that day, and needed time to get back from the photoshoot spot. If the staff do in fact leave at 7pm, there should not be an 8pm drop off option on their website. The rental itself went smoothly with no issues with the car, however when I dropped the car off at 7:55 pm at Funchal Center, the same desk worker reprimanded me for being 55 minutes late. I didn't respond to that comment as my now fiance and I were just trying to have a good night, but it put a black mark on a very happy day. Upon looking at my invoice, I see there was a mistake made in where I dropped the car off. Despite dropping the car off at Funchal center; where I picked the car up, they noted that I dropped it off at the airport and charged me 67.58 euros for doing so. I have emailed their support contact 3X over the past week and have received no response. I would not recommend this company as their desk staff is rude, and their support is unacceptable.
Recently rented a car from Sixt Car Rental at this location. Friendly staff member at check-in and easy process. Car was solid, comfortable and great! On drop off when I was done with the car (while I was still on the road in front), the front of the building was full of cars so I did not know where to park. There was no other traffic around me, no incoming vehicles, one of their male employee signaled me in to drive inside the garage while a female employee began nagging at him because he had signaled me in. Once inside, she began giving me attitude saying that I had crossed two traffic lanes (again, no other cars around) and the penalty was 300 euros for doing such traffic offence. First of all, I was following the instructions of the employee, secondly, to my knowledge, she was not a police officer?! Dealt with the male employee afterwards, which he was great. Other than this guilt trip and making me feel unwelcomed back, it was a good car, which explains the 3 stars. To avoid dealing with this lady again, next time, I'll bring my business elsewhere.
I had a good experience with this car rental company. Everything went smoothly, and the process was quick and hassle-free. I had full insurance coverage, which gave me peace of mind throughout the rental period. The only minor downside was that I had to wait a bit longer than expected to pick up the car. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I would rent from them again
I booked a rental car through a third-party company at Sixt Madeira and was due to all the negative reviews quite nervous. However, everything from pick-up to return worked out without a problem. No waiting time and very nice service! I had an additional full-coverage insurance through a third-party company and would recommend everyone who is not very used to manual gears on mountains to get an automatic car (as I did). They did check the car before and after in detail, but not overly critical as some reviews say. I would book there again! :)
Hired an Audi A3 saloon for a couple of days from the Sixt in Funchal Centre and the experience was great. Pick-up was easy with no pressure selling of additional packages etc. Upon return, the handover was quick with no mention of damage. Only downside was the car having an annoying rattle due to a loose panel on the inside along with some excess wind whistle.
I've used Sixt car rental company several times in France, Slovenia. The first time, unfortunately, I was deceived. Returning the car, I was very pleased because after quite challenging narrow mountain roads, the car remained healthy and undamaged, just as I had picked it up from the rental. However, upon inspection, they found a broken emergency sign holder in the trunk. Even though I noticed the emergency sign was in the the back of trunk all ready when I was placing my luggage, it is my fault that I didn't check if anything was broken before renting. But even if I had opened the trunk immediately, I probably wouldn't have noticed that the emergency sign holder was broken. They charged me 409 euros for the broken plastic piece. After some discussion, they lowered the price to 322 euros. I had insurance from Ryanair, but it turns out they don't cover internal damage. Even though, as they write, it's a full car insurance. In short, not only did the rental company deceive me, but also Ryanair's so-called full car insurance. My verdict is that you should always thoroughly check your car not only from the outside but also from the inside. This is my last time renting a car from Sixt. I hope this comment will be useful to someone. I am showing the car numbers, I hope it will help someone and will be a proof if this happens.
Did a lot of research prior to my trip to Madeira, I had a hard time finding a place with decent reviews. Reading the reviews of some local places with a 5-star rating, it was very obvious that many places are paying for positive feedback. Rented an Audi A3 from this location, perfect size for this island, I don't recommend larger vehicles. The car was in great condition, and the staff were very professional and helpful. I had no problems upon returning the vehicle. My deposit was back in my account within 2 days. Also compared to other rental places, the deposit is much less. Thank you Sixt, definitely recommend this location. I will be renting again from this location when I go back to Madeira.
