Madeira Rent in Funchal

What a great service and a cracking price for a VW T-Rock automatic picking up from Madeira Funchal airport and dropping off in Funchal city. The car was in very good condition and the staff were excellent at both ends. Very speedy service. I booked through CarFlexi which gave me the best rate.

I've booked the car at home with sunny-cars which was very easy and clear. Picking it up at Madeira Rent was not a good experience. The guy at the desk was hectic and I felt forced to sign a "contract" which I should receive by mail - (what I didn't!) after signing it. When I asked what I'm signing, the explanation was unclear and he got unfriendly. I left with a bad feeling; not knowing if I got cheated or not.

This rental was smooth to pick up and return. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Worth the money for the freedom to explore the island and enjoy Madeira's Mario Cart roads. Would rent again and recommend to a friend. Five stars

The process of picking up and dropping off the car was relatively straightforward, and the car itself was good. The issue arose because we were instructed to return the car just as we picked it up - with the gas tank "filled up," but it wasn't full when we received it (we fortunately took a photo for documentation). We returned the car with more gas than it had when we got it and also took a photo to prove it. We explained this to the service assistant at the drop-off location, who assured us there was no problem. However, a couple of days later, EUR30 was deducted from our deposit with the justification that the car wasn't fully refueled. After we explained the situation again, and provided the photos, the company agreed to return the EUR30. It's just unfortunate that this issue occurred and we had to waste our time taking care of it. Not the best experience.

Booked here last minute, very fair deal, super friendly staff. The car was in neat condition and exactly what we needed to get around Madeira. Highly recommended!

We rent the car for 2 weeks in July. Very easy to pick up in the airport, very easy to return. The Seat Ibiza was really cool, clean and did very well on Madeira, even on steep hills. Why 3 stars ? On the pick up they pushed us to rent a bigger model with 'an offer only for this week' - right. Lucky we didn't fall for that trap. On the pick up, we had to give a deposit of EUR100, no idea why. For in case we didn't return the car full fuel again. We did. But the EUR100 ? Never seen it back. Not even after a few mails. But yes, we live in Belgium, what can we do ?

got this via a travel booking site, and ended up having to top up for their zero excess rental cover. Tip: just buy their full cover onsite! That said, we enjoyed our rental: pick up is right at the exit from baggage. We booked and received an A200 after reading reviews of Madeira's roller coaster roads and didn't regret it. While the kit was basic, the control, acceleration and reverse cam were integral to our good time on Madeira. Bonus: the charging ports are USB C. Minor gripe: the car didn't have CarPlay and the map wasn't that updated, so we couldn't get to some newer places without somehow balancing with Google Maps. Returns at 2PM were easy due to the car park layout. We were good to go in 5 minutes. Reading other reviews: I didn't clean the car, but it wasn't that wet when we were there. I imagine we left some mud from shoes, but that wasn't an issue for them. We saw other nice models available too at return. Would recommend. Thank you for the lovely time :) My license was from Singapore and in English. No need for IDP (despite what portugals websites say)

We hired straight away through their website and took full coverage for a week and we had the perfect service. We got a perfectly clean car, basically new with only 22k kilometers and 2/3 minor scratches. Once we arrived for pickup we got a trainee to help us and he was just amazing. He was friendly, did a great job and helped us fast. Of-course his coach was there to help him and was as nice. On return we got the same trainee helping us return the car, wrote down that we had no new damage and the deposit for keys and documents of 300 was also immediately returned. All by all good service, quick arrangement and friendly staff. Recommend to rent your car here!
