Leaving a two star review due to bad service received upon checkout. The reservation process and communication via WhastApp were convenient. The car Citroen 3 was a standard and fine. At reservation and check in we communicated our flight number and departure time. The lady that received us asked that we arrive 2 hours before our flight which was departing at 9:40 am. We agreed therefore on arrival at about 7:30 which I confirmed by WhatsApp. Upon arrival, Mr Victor busy with a customer checking in, welcomed us in a highly unexpected and unpleasant manner "Heloooo, can I help you?!" I replied "yes, we're here to drop off the car". "You're too early, you're supposed to be here at 8:30". Needless to say, the entire rental experience was suddenly shadowed by his surprisingly unpleasant behavior and welcome. A few explanations later, still with the same attitude he said he'd take us to the airport (5 min drive) but it'll be 30EUR because it is night hours (it was 7:43 at the time) and that it is written in the contract. When I explained no one informed us of this expensive charge and that we were asked to be there at that time AND that I sent a confirmation message the night before, still no one informed us of the "night hours", he explained, I'm just doing my job. Conclusion it's cheaper to take an Uber to the airport from their so called airport location or simply rent from another agency that will be more transparent and most importantly more pleasant to deal with. Lastly, Mr Victor drove fast in the rain on curvy roads and insisted on playing music loudly in the car despite us asking him to turn off the music, luckily he did slow down though after we asked him. Regarding music, he said that this is the best radio station (and we should enjoy it).

I'm giving RentX one star because we didn't feel well-treated by the driver, who seemed to be having a bad day and arrived already quite angry. We were punctual in returning the car, cleaned it, and did everything possible to ensure a smooth process. However, we were not treated with the same courtesy. The driver insisted we sign something digitally without giving us the chance to read what we were signing. He kept repeating, "I'll explain it to you after," and since they had blocked EUR2000 from our account, we didn't feel comfortable doing so without understanding it, which caused us significant discomfort. It seemed like he was upset and in a hurry due to scheduling issues on their end, but it's not right to take it out on the customers. At some point, he finally explained what the signature was for, and one of our group members, who was already feeling slightly stressed by the situation, nervously said, "Perfect, thank you." The driver rudely replied, "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to the gentleman," referring to the passenger next to the driver. This attitude, unfortunately, led me to leave a negative review. The service itself works, although we had issues with the car, a Dacia Jogger, which wasn't of great quality. We had a flat tire, and the gearbox caused some concerning issues, although it eventually sorted itself out. Overall, I wouldn't consider the car very reliable.

Great experience with RentX! I rented a car for a whole week with them. Their customer support is super friendly and professional, on the day of the Pick up, they came to pick us up from the airport and handed us the car, they will show you the scratches or damages the car already has and note them down so everyone is aware of each little detail. When we went to give the car back, they did a quick check and dropped us off at the airport. Only negative point is that when we got the car, I noticed that the brakes were a little worn, but didn't think it was a problem, in fact on 5th day the brakes started to be very noisy, and on the last day the left brake was totally consumed, which made us panic a little as obviously knowing that one of the two brakes of the car is in poor condition was not something that looked safe for us. I would've appreciated if this was checked before giving the car to us for safety reasons.

I see why this place is reviewed so well. By far the best car rental experience I've had. Quick and friendly service. In/out within 5 minutes and quick returns. Prices were also great. Highly recommend if you are renting a car in Madeira.

This is our first experience ever renting a car and it was the easiest process ever! After collecting our luggage we gave them a call and they came to collect us in just 10 minutes. Filled in a few quick forms, made our payment and off we went. Our pick up driver was really friendly, as well as everyone in the office. Had zero issues with the car, everything was super smooth. We opted for the full insurance just to be on the safe side and even then it was a great deal, 273EUR for 6 days total. We dropped the car off when finished and again we received a lift back to the airport within 10 minutes. No need to check the car since we had the insurance, just a like for like on the petrol which was a full tank. The car had everything we could have needed including apple car play which came in good use for us so we could link the sat nav straight up. Thank you for helping make our trip to Madeira stress free. We will definitely rent our car from you next time we visit Madeira

After long research, we have finally rented here and it was a perfect decision! Beside the price was super favourable, all the administration was done seamlessly and quickly. We got a Corsa with 100 HP, which was perfectly fine for the mountains, at the steep places gear 2 was strong enough. Average consumption was around 7.5, and don't forget to keep the receipt of the last fuel station visit. On the day of return we got into a traffic jam so were late by 30 minutes, but they were super understanding and flexible. We would rent here again and recommend it to everyone!

Great car rental agency! I've rented a car from them for 7 days for a very good price using Discover Cars. I've also opted to get the full insurance directly from RentX in their office when picking up the car for 15 euros/day. Because I took the insurance, no credit card or deposit was needed and I actually paid using a Revolut card. Pick up was very fast, around 5-10 minutes for all the paperwork. Clean and almost new car. Very friendly staff that gave me all the needed information regarding parking and driving conditions on the island. With the insurance you also get 24 hour assistance in case of flat tire or other issues but fortunatelly I didn't need it. Car was very good for Madeira, even on some steep roads. Dropping off the car was also very fast, the only thing checked was that the gas tank was full. Highly recommended!

Rented a car for 4 days in June 2023. I sent the documents on WhatsApp to fill the contract, so the pick-up was very fast. I got a new (2000km) and clean car. (I even got an free upgrade to a premium car). Drop-off was also fast and the amount blocked for deposit was released in a few minutes. I had experience with two rent-a-car companies in Madeira and RentX was by far the best.
