The lady in the office is helpful, though you may need to call several times before getting an answer. Compared to Sixty, Europcar's package is straightforward, with a quick refund process after returning the car. A few tips: consider purchasing insurance directly from the rental company rather than through booking platforms, and be mindful of their two-hour lunch break, when no one is in the office. However, if you have full coverage through Europcar, you can easily park the car outside and drop the key in their secure mailbox, located on the lower left side of the garage door.
Be prepared to spend way more than you are quoted at Europcar and for them to try to nickle and dime you. The final amount I paid was $210 over what I was quoted. First, picking up the car took almost 1.5 hours and I arrived exactly when the location in Lagos opened, and I was only third in line. Then I had to pay for insurance TWICE even though I already paid for insurance through Expedia because, undisclosed prior, Europcar only takes its own insurance. Nowhere was that mentioned when I booked the car. The website mentioned there would be a local fee of about 80 euros, but why not disclose all the other added cost, ie random service fees and a deposit? Finally, the worst part, when I returned the car in Porto they wanted to charge me for a "deep clean" because there was a very small water mark on one seat. They made a huge deal of it, but I was able to apply a bit of water from my water bottle and the mark was gone completely. They begrudgingly did not charge me the deep cleaning fee. Overall, would NOT recommend Europcar to anyone.
I initially posted a negative review for this company, primarily due to the condition of the car I received and, secondarily, because of the wait time at the airport. They invited me to visit one of their branches to address the issues I had with the car. While the wait time at the airport remains an inconvenience, the exceptional service I received at the Lagos branch and the replacement car provided to me at the same price have completely changed my perception of their service level. I am now a satisfied customer and hope that this positive experience continues in the future.
Europcar Lagos supplied us with a great little Fiat as booked. The whole experience was affected by the attitude of the woman we dealt with when picking up the car. She was dismissive and disinterested in us as customers to the point of being rude. The gentleman who later joined her in the office however was super helpful and friendly which we appreciated.
Terrible experience.... After making a reservation and receiving a confirmation they didn't have a car available for us as promised. Our pickup time was at 5pm, we arrived around 6pm (after calling twice to an answered phone to let them know our delay).They said the EV car that was ours just arrived but had no battery and would require us to come back in the morning to pickup the car. Our travel plans didn't allow this as we have a hotel reservation an hour away. They claimed to have canceled the reservation so we didn't need to pay a fee, but could not provide us a receipt of the cancellation.
Hi guys , if you're looking to rent a car from this place please very very careful. We rented the car for a6 days in Lagos our third day while we're driving car caught the fire and we're so lucky to be alive. The car is completely burned .If we didn't pulled over quick as possible we will be dead within 5min .I will try to upload the picture of the accident and hopefully it will help for all the tourists like us. Me and my husband never wanna see it's happen anyone. The best part is next day we went to the euro car center they told us to pay the whole value of the car which is nothing to do with us and they put us very danger situation and don't even care honestly , they're vehicles are not safe to drive at all even the car we rented it was made in 2024 . We lost the money and our vacation time after the whole this incident.please be carefull everyone and stay away from this place.
The experience in this rental shop was positive, but the information we received were strangely incorrect. After our rental, we were supposed to have 15EUR back (at least that's what they told us in person), but there were a lot of problems during the process. We used two credit cards and they took and sent money freely without talking with us. Our experience had ended two weeks before and we had to call and send emails to europcar's client service because they kept on doing the wrong calculations. In the end, they still owe us 3EUR, which is nothing, but I can only imagine if they do this with every client... we have spent stressful weeks trying to solve THEIR problem. We just wanted to relax on our vacation. In the shop they were nice though
Long queue to collect car. Better car than booked was a plus. But the car was covered in bird poo and windows were dirty.
