Awful company, even worse customer care. Charged 190 for a scratch that was present upon pickup (many scratches and dents on the car) that could have been buffed out with a cloth. Manager was patronizing and extremely rude. I am not one to leave negative reviews, but this place should be shut down.
Don't get scammed, use another rental service. When we picked up the car they did a damage walk through. There were dozens of scratches and small dents on the car. I have never rented a car before with so many dents but I assumed it was normal for cheaper rental. Upon returning the car, the employee asked if I had taken any pictures the day I picked it up. I said no. He then pointed out a small scratch (about 4 cm long and thin over the front drivers side wheel). He then informed us it would be 190 euro, which is the minimum they will charge for a scratch. I asked if he had photos with a timestamp to prove that this one scratch, out of the dozens of them, had been caused by us. He had one blurry picture that proved nothing. I am quite sure we did not cause the scratch but regardless, 190 is rediculous. It looks like it could be buffed out with a cloth. When he brought the manager, he was extremely rude and patronizing. Wasn't wearing a name tag of course. He got us very worked up and made it seem like we were crazy. It was an awful experience that left us feeling bad. It's pretty clear from the way the manager spoke to us as well as other reviews here that this is how this company operates. I suggest paying a bit more to use another rental service, where the cars aren't so banged up that the employees can't even keep track.
worst customer service. they make you pay extra for cleaning (which is not mentioned anywhere and also just mentioned after you already gave the deposit and are about to make the final payment). not only they make you pay for the cleaning but they give you a car which is NOT CLEAN. They say the tank is full, but after 3kms the bars indicated that the tank is not full. You take a picture, you call them to let them know, they tell you it's not a problem you can bring back the car the same way. But when bringing the car back, they say they cannot control if the tank is full and therefore it is not their responsibility
Beware hidden charges. I was given the option of cleaning the exterior and interior of the car myself before returning it or paying EUR10.95 for Berent to do it. I have never had to pay a cleaning fee in all my years renting cars The fuel gauge showed 86% full on collection. Within 7kms, the gauge had dropped one 'click.' The 'activation fee' for the toll fob was c.EUR10.50. Another excuse to rip off the renter! They also block a whopping EUR2,000 on the credit card if, as I did, have my own insurance. This is by far, the most my card has ever been blocked. The Berent office is a good distance from the airport. I will not be renting from them again. There are many more car rental companies on site at the airport who do not hit renters with 'artificial' charges.
I was very happy with this agency. Reasonable rates, helpful, courteous staff, great vehicle. They delivered on all points. Recommend.
Awful experience, do not waste your time and energy with this shady company. They cancelled our valid booking and tried to opt us in for a 4x more expensive car. After renting a car in many countries and many times with other companies I have never experienced such hustling from them like in case of Be Rent.
I was nervous after booking with berent at first after reading so many 1 star reviews and bad experiences but honestly I could not fault them at all. My family and I had a great experience. We had 2 cars, picked up at the airport on arrival and got the shuttle bus across to the rental location. Handover was quick and easy. Staff were friendly and handing the cars back was also a speedy process. I didn't get the suv I requested but the vehicle was still suitable. There were a few bangs and scratches on it which I documented on my phone before setting off. If we return to Portugal again we will definitely use them again. Thanks again guys
Great price for a one month rental. Took the BeRent shuttle van from the Lisbon airport to their nearby office to pickup the car. The office is in a clean and calm warehouse like building. They had the car we had reserved. Paperwork went quickly. You drive out of the building onto a quiet street with easy access to the motorway. A gas station is nearby to fill-up the car before you return it. No hassles when returning the car and then we took their shuttle van for short ride to the airport. We'd happily use them again.
