Do yourself a favour and avoid this location. I was there Oct 20th, only to receive a car that was disgusting, white stain on black seats, smells so bad you couldn't roll the windows back up. When asked for new car, a staff basically yelled at me saying the car is fine. Furthermore, gas was not even full. Had to go to the airport location to switch, the staffs (Great) in the airport location agreed that the car should not have been rented out in this condition. 4-5 hrs easily wasted.
Pick up of our electric car was fine however drop off was a mess. The contract says you can drop off after hours, so we tried to drop off before our flight on Sunday am, however there was no key drop box or any other instructions on where to leave a car. We saw someone going into the Avis at 830 am so we asked if we could give him the key as we needed to leave for the airport (the door said the location opened at 9 am) but the man told us "no he didn't open til 9 am " and we asked if we could drop the car to the airport and he said yes, so we did, and we were charged an extra 50 euros. Super inconvenient and unprofessional.
This location is scamming people and trying to make a living from it. This is FRAUD. I didn't see previous reviews before booking but seems this is a habit for them. We had a 4 day rental for 73.83$ that was booked through Priceline. We returned the car 4th day before 12:30 as the location closes at that time. They took it back in a rush and said it was ok, and didn't specify or mention anything about any charge and made us a sign something quickly. Turns out they charged us $760. 1000% more than agreed!!!! They clocked the return into the system 30 minutes later. When I contacted Avis headquarters they agreed this was unreasonable and said they'd try to work with the local office. After back and forth for over a month, Avis headquarters finally said they couldn't do anything about it even though this seems unusual as it was the policy of the local office. They asked I try to call the local branch directly. When I tried to call them, it's been impossible to get someone to answer. I then disputed through my credit card who managed to reach them and they think this is ok?!? What kind of business is this?! I'm livid and will continue spreading the word about this terrible service and habit your branch seems to have. I would like someone from this branch contact us as soon as possible.
Employees should be trained to be more welcoming. They even tried to give me a car with a broken windshield which would have been my fault if I did not see it. They should explain what cars they have for you so you can choose whatever you prefer in the category you reserved. I am critical because I am renting from them each time and want then to get better. So only 4 starts for now.
I rented a car from this agency during my vacation in Portugal. The nightmare began as soon as I dropped off the car at the airport: like many others, I was charged an additional EUR250 for a minor scratch on a rim upon returning the car, which I am certain I did not cause. The size and nature of the damage seemed negligible, yet I was billed for it. Despite my complaints, the response from AVIS was standardized and unhelpful. Future renters, be vigilant and consider documenting the vehicle condition thoroughly before driving off.
Very good nice experience from begining to the end of our trip car was excellent all the way we ask for automatic car and an automatic car it was very comftable and good to drive , it was more enjoyable our holiday with Avis rental
Watch out for this place. We received a car with a ton of scratches and minor damage. Upon driving only a few miles, we got a flat tire so had to return the car. They gave us a downgraded replacement car at the same price then ended up charging another $300 USD for a brand new tire on a small Toyota. After multiple attempts of contacting, they would not do anything about it and continued to hold the stance that they were correct in their assessment. I tried disputing with my credit card company and again Avis refused to refund and said it was my fault with no proof of damage or anything, not to mention a huge markup on the tire. I still have not had it resolved. Stay away from this place and use a different car rental company that doesn't take advantage of foreigners. UPDATE: They still did not provide enough support to make sense of the charge and my credit card company still denied it. So never sign anything upon returning the car with Avis even if it says it is not the final amount. They definitely took advantage of me and looks like they have done the SAME to other customers. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT PEICE OF MIND.
We rented a car at this location Feb 24-29 during our trip to Portugal. I'm confused as to the ratings here on Google. As a frequent traveller and car renter this location was one of the smoothest I've ever been to anywhere. Top tier crew with top notch service. Highly recommend.
