Let's start with the important stuff....pancake machine at breakfast! Record of 13 pancakes made, covered in Nutella and consumed by our 11 year old and 9 year old made it to 10 pancakes! Concerned mother stopped consumption at this point. Both our children loved making these themselves. Used so much it ran out of mixture. Plenty of other options for the non pancake lovers. Rooftop bar was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Pool was small but perfect for a quick dip after some sightseeing.
Big hotel in a nice neighborhood. Lot's of cafes and shops around but not a party area. The rooms and gym are a little dated. The bar and lobby had a refresh. It's conveniently located near big metro lines.
Literally worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Everything that could be wrong, was wrong. There's a 4EUR charge for room service even if you're just getting a bucket of ice. The lifts are slow and ancient and take 20 minutes to get to the 9th floor. The hotel itself is ancient and desperately needs a fix. The room while big was so old and derelict everywhere - the sockets were old, the air con too loud, the bathroom door didn't shut and there wasn't a universal light switch so you had to turn off all the lamps yourself each night. The bathroom is the worse designed bathroom I've ever seen in my life. There's no straight path to the toilet and there's a bidet that's blocking the entire walkway and the bath is tiny and shower is old. Also the bath broke and when they sent up a serviceman he wasn't able to explain anything to me so I had to go down to the reception only for them to be entirely useless and tell me there's nothing they could do today and they could only fix it the next day. And when I asked if I could move rooms the guy responded and saying 'he didn't what rooms were available right now'. Really? As if they don't have all of that information on their computers. On the topic of staff, every single one of them was incompetent and unhelpful and quite frankly you'd be better off asking the wall for help. Also the wifi never worked and you'd be lucky if it loaded 1 pixel of a video. The fridge was too small and smelled and wasn't cold. Also the room walls were so thin so if you want to spend the night listening to your neighbour coughing his lungs out then this is the place for you. Overall useless hotel, useless location and overall horrible experience.
The rooms are large but very outdated and need refurbishing. The layout of the bathroom was an absolute joke! You had to climb over the bidet or the bathtub to reach the toilet, which you couldn't even sit straight on because the wall in front was too close. The plug in the bath also broke meaning the tub wouldn't drain, and when they sent someone to fix it he just shrugged and said it was broken and would get fixed later. Housekeeping often didn't arrive until very late - we'd go out in the morning and come back at 2/3pm to time they still hadn't been. Room service tried to charge EUR4 for a bucket of ice (no drinks, just ice) There are so many negatives about this hotel and I would never willingly choose to stay here again!
Decent hotel, good room and facilities. If booking again I might choose a better location nearer the bars and restaurants but it was very good for my trip being solo and only there for the football.. Lisbon is a great destination and I enjoyed the hotel and all that Lisbon had to offer.
Nice welcome, reception staff very helpful. Used mainly as a base for our visit. However, unfortunately ordered some food at the rooftop bar; the steak wasn't (!) it was more like an elongated burger and tasteless (didn't get the garlic butter) . Rooftop bar where friendly but need to pay more attention when it comes to cleaning the 'pool' area as leftover bottles/glasses remained laying around for best part of the day. Would help if they paid more attention to the clients than there 'phone. The main restaurant got even worse, ordered our food and my sons pizza arrived, but not what was ordered. Waiter was very apologetic THEN explained to me that his writing was not very good (could possibly look for a career change ?) AND when the correct pizza came in it was taken to 2 other tables either side of us before we got it. Other than that rooms where ok but able to hear next door and corridor doors slamming. Underwhelming. Lisbon is a great place, stay somewhere else.
I checked in yesterday with my 10 year old daughter. We had already paid for the hotel in full and was advised there was an issue as I did not have a credit card to use as a security deposit. I have debit cards, used in many other hotels previously and offered to pay upfront for any city tax etc, but this still wasn't sufficient. The only option we had was for them to send someone up to our room, to empty our mini bar, to prevent us from stealing everything!! My 10 year old was very confused, watching the lady empty the snacks and drinks. Not a problem, but it just revealed how filthy the fridge was!! |The roof top pool is lovely, but do not order food from the bar. It.is.awful.|I ordered a sirloin steak with garlic butter, I received a thin bit of dry meat in a burger bun with freezing cold fries. I explained I hadn't ordered a burger, but was told it was in fact a steak!? It was horrid, I wish I'd just ordered an actual burger, it would have been about EUR5 cheaper than the so called steak, and probably been more succulent than a vintage shoe.|The room was cleaned today but all the dirty glasses have been left behind. |It is 100% not a 4 star hotel. Very tied rooms, the bath has cracks, decor needed doing 10 years ago and the Teckno 2000 hair drier has broken. |It's all a bit of a joke to be honest, but learnt my lesson to spend a bit more next time.
I booked directly with IHG online and selected a flexible rate, cancelled and then rebooked when I saw their sale was on. And my stay was amazing - clean, spacious room on the 10th floor less than a minutes walk from the rooftop pool and bar which is heavenly. The breakfast has everything you could want - hot & cold. The reception and room service staff speak very good English, smile, and go out of their way to help if you need anything - perfect. The hotel is just under a 10 minute walk from Saldanha metro station - this can get you to the city centre as well as the airport in minutes. I see there are reviews below mentioning parts of the hotel are dated; this is not a deal breaker for me as the cleanliness is to a top standard. If hotel decor and building design matters to you then you should pay more for a 5-star hotel. This place is excellent for the price you pay. I have no complaints.
