The person was nice but the company made us clean the inside of the car. If we didn't want to clean the inside of the car we had to pay over 100 EUR + tax. That's not something that any other rental car company we have used ever demanded. Nor is it something we were informed about when we decided to use this company and when we took the car to go to the countryside. We should have been informed because this is an unusual policy and we could've taken a different company or at least made sure that the car returns very clean. In our case, we had time to clean it but people who are in a hurry to get the airport are probably stuck having to pay a lot of money, so that is cheating.
Picking up the car was VERY long, so many people waiting, we must have waited close to 2 hours. It was a Saturday, the employee that served us said it was an exceptional busy day. We booked with a third party and I accidentally reserved a manual car, the gentleman who served us, kindly upgraded our car to an automatic SUV and charged us the difference. Return went well, no issues, return was very quick and was refunded my deposit. I would suggest renting to tollbooth accessory and pay at the end.
Perfect ending for a fantastic holiday. I don't know why they have so many bad reviews - we had an excellent experience. Was one of the few companies that does affordable one way rentals - we took our car in porto and returned it in Lisbon. The car rental itself was super affordable (less than 200) and so when we decided to take full insurance (0 liability) for an additional 600 - we found it worth it. Hassle free rental for two weeks - very nice staff and very responsive email customer service. We give them a high rating and will be renting from them again in our next trip to Portugal!
As opposed to many reviews, everything went super well in my case. I picked up the car, they were friendly, they took care of my request to not change the car (or rather to not upgrade my car because I needed the model I booked) and were fairly practical. Upon dropping the car back off, I was super concerned as I read all the reviews. I took I detailed video when renting the car and the same detailed video when dropping it back off to ensure I'll not be charged after. When dropping off I communicated my concerns and informed the very kind employee that I have concerns and that I would like to go through everything now, also to be ensured to have my blocked amount of 2460EUR cancelled. Everything went super well, the employee was very accommodating and I am leaving with a super easy/simple and cheap 4 day car rental experience. Take safety measurements for yourself, communicate your needs and hopefully you will have just as much of a fine experience as I had. 5/5
Terrible experience like what all the reviews say stay away from RENTING HERE !!!! Crooks behind the counter ordered a vehicle with large trunk to haul all of our luggage given a small compact nothing like what we paid . Total extra $ they took from me over $600 after paying until $600 for one week rental !! I rented Range Rover with 6 bag room they said that there there small bags and didn't rent the proper vehicle lol what a joke of a company !
I rented a car for my trip to Portugal. I was placed with Surprice through the third party website www.booking.com. From Lisbon airport, I waited for a shuttle. This consumed a lot of time and was also quite stressful, because there are so many shuttles arriving and departing, and many people waiting for the respective shuttle to take them to their car rental company. After arriving at the car rental place, it was not clear on where to go - I ended up walking into the drop-off area, in which I ended up waiting for someone just to tell me to go downstairs for car pickup. Upon arriving downstairs, I had to get a number and wait to be called. This was such a slow and poor system, and I noticed a family STILL waiting for their rental car, though they had gotten on a shuttle before me. Once I finally got called, the service agents were again pretty slow and didn't seem to have any sense of urgency. Also, the explanation I got on some of my options was not all that clear in my opinion. Once I finally got my rental car, it was perfect - no issues on that front. I managed just fine and enjoyed the car. I will mention that I had been advertised a car similar to a Toyota Corolla and ended up with more of a larger sized SUV. This didn't impact me, but for people less inclined to larger vehicles, this may have been an issue. After a week or so of adventuring, I returned my rental car and was given the clear (no reported damages) and just paid my tolls due from the highways. Almost a month later, a charge of more than $80 appears in my credit card from Surprice. I was at a loss as to why they would be charging my credit card, long after the trip ended. And again, at car drop off, there was ZERO mention of any sort of additional charges. My contract had been delivered to me at car pickup, and I had been charged on the spot for the full amount. I emailed them on the matter and did not get any response. After 2 weeks of waiting, I followed up. The next day, I get a reply asking for my rental agreement number - though I had attached all pertaining rental documents in my first email to them. I follow up with the requested information on the same day, and no response. I send 2 more subsequent follow ups, and still no response. This is now a dispute with my bank and I am hoping they can deal with the rental company directly. Why would a rental company charge their client weeks after the car was rented and returned? There is no valid reason to do so, and to date I haven't received a valid explanation from the company. It's unethical and as far as I'm concerned, fraud. Please be careful with this company and know that you have plenty of other options in Lisbon. EDIT FOLLOWING COMPANY RESPONSE: The company has since replied to my review asking me to email them. I am not emailing you. I have already emailed you requesting this be looked into, and have sent several follow-ups. The responsibility should not fall on the customer to deal with poor business practices. This issue is now with my bank and will be handled as a financial dispute. Please do better.
Warning! Won't ever use again despite good prices. Gangster mentality by two employees today with intimidation and subtle threats of violence towards me. I booked through a third party platform and Surprice confirmed the booking request. At the counter, they said they have no cars available and my broker platform canceled it. My broker platform disagreed and said they didn't know (have it in writing). The Surprice employees didn't want to show me proof they said they have that my broker canceled "we don't have to show you." I asked if they could listen to me since they kept interrupting me. The taller employee Carlos got up his chair and leaned aggressively towards me. The other short employee with tattoos all over then said "we would go outside with you but have to work" threatening violence. All while I repeatedly requested a confirmation of cancellation by the platform to get a refund for the prepayment. Absolutely unacceptable behavior by their employees. I, who was alone, got intimidated by two angry Surprice employees for reasonably requesting a writing note. I went back online after the encounter and saw they list many cars available. I lost hours commuting there and dealing with them, for only stress. Use at your own risk! [Update after their reply: I have full recording of how two of their aggressive employees threatened me, and any false claims from their department will be treated as defamation. I have been absolutely appropriately asked for receipt of a canceled booking. Their claim I had no booking is false, too. I have emails showing confirmations for a car. Stunning they make up lies and defend unprofessional aggressive behavior of their employees.]
The service provided from start to end was awesome. Martin on the return desk was also very helpful explaining the extra charges of tolls and how to pay them online. Will defiantly opt for the service.next time.
