I had an extremely disappointing experience with Tangerine Car Rentals, and I would strongly advise against using their services. Over a month has passed, and I still haven't received my holding deposit, despite numerous calls to their customer service team. The staff has been consistently rude and unhelpful. To make matters worse, our rental car was broken into, and although we had third-party insurance, we were unable to file a claim because Tangerine never provided us with the necessary damage report--despite charging us for it. Their customer service is by far the worst I've encountered in the car rental industry. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this company at all costs.
The Mercedes GLB we were given had a disconnected proximity sensor on the front bumper. It warning was beeping even when we were maneuvering to get out of their car park, but at the time I just assumed it was over-sensitive sensors. It started again at our first stop about two hours into our trip to the Algarve. We called and just told us to return it - which is obviously not an option when they have no stations anywhere near our vacation itinerary. We had to endure the beeping and sudden automatic braking for two weeks. What made it much worse was the obstinate, uncaring, mocking attitude of the lady of the Tangerine center when we returned it in Lisbon. We tried to explain it was like that when we picked it up and it should have been their responsible to come and exchange the car. I've never seen such rude and insensitive behaviour. I will never use them again.
Good value for money. We booked this through a 3rd party including insurance. Our car was new and with Android Auto. No issues with deposit. Had to ask for toll specifications to check invoices but they were correct. Pickup was a bit slow but returning was very quick.
Very friendly staff, the car was fine, however there are operational issues that effect the customer experience - the fuel tank was not full when we collected the car, but we were told it was, and as we had to return it full we ended up having to request a refund for fuel. The shuttle service to the airport was slow as there was only one driver available.
We rented a car for a trip around Portugal. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We received the car in less than 10 minutes. Returning it was also easy and took about 5 minutes. The car was washed and sparkled inside. I can only recommend it.
Overall we had a good experience with Tangerine in Lisboa. You should know that you have to take a shuttle service to their location which is not super close to the airport. Staff is super friendly but the check in process is too long (we rented the car as from 14:30 and they did not want to start the check in before that time). They also obliged us to take the via verde (toll) for a cost of almost 10 EUR. The car itself was very good and clean. Check out went super smooth. So overall a good experience.
It was the first time I rented a car from Tangerine and my experience was very positive. Friendly, courteous and polite staff, from the moment I was picked up at the airport, up to the moment I returned the car. Also, there was no waiting time anywhere. This is the type of service that makes a company and the employees play a big role. The car was spotless, inside and out and low kilometers. The inspection was pre-done, and all the cosmetic blemishes were signaled. GPS and Via Verde were also standard and included. The Via Verde was prepaid and the amount used was deducted from the payment, which was a convenience, since there is no need to stop, look for change or make a payment which again is a plus and saves on gas. I was very pleased with the experience. I would recommend them and when I return, I'll use their services again. A big thank you to the staff. Keep up the great work.
The car had a lot of scratches and wheel rash. The paperwork containing damages did not list anything. When I mentioned this to him, he just smiled and said take pictures. When returning I had to show the pictures and explain everything, again. Just a blatant attempt at cheating - if I had not noticed and taken pics, they would just charged me. Bad business practice. A case of "Buyer Beware". Car itself was good and the return process was easy and the return agent was good.
