Beware , they are quite a distance from the airport, and charged us EUR30 extra to meet us a 7am for our 9am flight..
I had a great experience with drivalia, good price, polite employees, quickly sorted everything. I plan to use the same company in future trips.
I rented a car for 5 days. Car was new and very clean. Price was totally fair and the people are very very nice. I 100% recommend!
STAY AWAY: I made the mistake of booking a car rental in Porto through Drivalia. It was the worst rental experience of my life. Here's why: 1. HUGE WAIT TIMES: It took 30 minutes and 3 phone calls to get the shuttle to the rental location. 2. CARS FROM CHEAPER CLASS THAN BOOKED: I booked & paid for Audi A3 (or similar). I was given a basic Peugeot. 3. TIRES NOT FULL: I rode out from the rental, and once I hit 90km/h the alarm of the car went off to say that tire pressure was dangerously low. I went to the first gas station, and indeed one wheel had way too low pressure. Got my hands dirty in the dark highway station. 4. THEY TRY TO MAKE OLD SCRATCHES YOUR FAULT: I returned the car, and they started to complain about scratches on the car. Luckily, I had taken photos before driving the car out, and I could show them. 5. UNPROFESSIONAL & RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE: Both at the rental location, the service was rude (and slow). My emails after this experience went unanswered. Be careful with Drivalia, not trustworthy.
I give the 5 starts to the exceptional staff, especially to Amanda V., who explained me how it works here in Portugal with tolls and billing for it and gave numerous other advices in regards to driving specifics in Portugal (which is very important when you are a tourist). Made a car upgrade and got a great deal for bmw for 2 days. Although the car had almost 78k on the clock, it had a perfect condition and was very clean, equipped with all necessary stuff for the case of some accidents on the roads. Picked the car 1/2 tanked and returned same way back. Easy and fast drop off. What comes to the shuttle pick-up, this could go much faster, if Drivalia had its own plaque or a sign in the airport, where to find the shuttle bus (like sixt, Europcar and others do). As I see in the reviews, I'm not the only one having a trouble with that, so would be nice if management could pay attention to this point. This will definitely make your customers much happier.
I can only recommend this Drivalia office: very friendly, fast, competent and attentive staff starting from the shuttle driver and service desk personnel up to the guys getting the car ready to pick up and checking it after return. Good fleet and good car condition. Overall can rate this experience only with 5 stars. Thanks. p.S. One possible improvement could be: to get some plaque in the airport, so that it is easier and faster to find the shuttle driver in the airport.
Great value overall and no major issues - at PS53 for a 7 day rental this was a real bargain. The main downside was the pickup process - it took around 1.5 hrs (!!!) to be picked up at the airport and get our keys which I think is just ridiculous. I cannot blame the staff on duty at the time as they had a lot of customers to deal with, both picking up and dropping off the cars and just two ladies manning the desk. Otherwise the pickup was fine, no pushing to buy any extras or insurance etc. When arriving at Porto Airport, it is not very clear where the pickup van will stop as there is a very long stretch of pick up and drop off points with all sorts of cars and vans coming and going - no real structure or a signposted area for Drivalia pickup. We booked a compact SUV but got given a Citroen C4 which is a hatchback, crossover at most. The car was spotless with just 5000km on the clock so no big deal. We also booked full to full but the tank was only half full. They only operate 8am-8pm so beware if you have an early or late flight. I emailed the branch when I realised who were very quick to respond via a phone call to explain the options - we had to pay EUR 35 for a pre 8am drop off which luckily meant there were no queues and the drop off was seamless, deposit unblocked from the card in less than an hour. There is a lot for Drivalia to improve upon, but I guess the super cheap prices have to come from somewhere, hence the compromises above.
Great and affordable car rental company. The handover of the car was very professional. Only the pickup from the airport took like half an hour. But they gave us a free car upgrade which made up for that.
