The lady at the desk was very unfriendly and wanted to charge us extra tax even though the reservation said that tax is already included. Afterwards she wanted to sell us an insurance that was also already included in the booking. She wrote some random numbers on a piece of paper that we should pay and if we would not have insisted that she explains it to us properly, we would have paid all the extra money for services and tax that were already included. Before taking over the car, we spotted a lot of scratches which she did not want to document and said that she has no possibility to write them down; only way for us would be making photos by ourselves; so let's see what happens when we give it back.. all in all, very bad experience- we would not recommend it and would not book with this company again.
When picking up the car at Lisbon Airport, it took about an hour (Saturday morning). The car was a bit dirty inside (like spilt drinks on the hand break). We ordered a Volkswagen Polo or similar and got a Citroen C3 through Booking.com with no extra insurance because I have a rental car insurance in my home country. We returned the car at Porto Airport (Friday morning) and didn't had to wait. The guy checked the car and it was all OK. I have experience with other car rental companies that they are really looking for scratches to make money, but this guy didn't. Turisprime is part of Avis, so I also didn't expect to happen. Make sure you made clear pictures before you drive away so you can prove that you didn't made the damage.
::::::SCAM ALERT ::::: There are not enough words to describe the robbery that was implemented on us by this rent a car agency . We booked a Polo "or similar" and he considered the a Toyota AYGO is a similar car for 4 adolt persons ??! I Never drove worse car than this one. It was demaged. They charged us more and more, for things as insurance, that we already pay on reservation. Total cost for 7 days rent of this miniature car was more then 500eur (165eur was booked price). And as final, in stead to return 110eur for petrol full to full guarantee , they take additional money ( 3 days after returning car), used my credit card without my permission and authorisation, stiling my data from it.... I was forced to block and change my credit card, so this company can not rubber me for more . It is criminal action an it will not end like this. Bank and Police will be informed to return my money . I tray to contact them, but nobody answered on the phone or email . Worse car agency ever, very bad experience, extremely unpleasant employees, a complete disappointment Stress experience that I do not recommend anyone to deal with. RUNN AWAY FROM Them!!
I pick up the car at 20.06.2023 and drop it 23.06.2023. When I reserved a car though agregator , I paid for this 77 EUR, when I arrive to pick up a car, employee says, that I need additional pay for insurance 75EUR, and they are freeze on my account additional 110EUR for some fine on a travel time . I reserved a Volkswagen Polo , but they take me a Kia Stonic . Totally I paid for my Car 75EUR agregator + 75EUR insurance, +75EUR rent + 110EUR for fine unexpected expenses. 335 EUR , for a 3 days rent. When I returned to the office to return the car, I waited in the general queue for another 25 minutes, because they did not have an office for the return of cars, because of your company I almost missed the plane. Not recommend. Very bad service , and expensive rent in Porto.
Resume: when you don't want to rent ViaVerde for 2EUR/day check that they take out this little white box from your car, or you will be charged anyway 8 months after! (Better visit CTT office every 3-6 days of the rent period and you save money). Seems cheap, but might be very problematic for tourists. Pay attention to the car and conditions! Original first review: (1 star) I am expecting our money back!!!!!! Car with shuttle was booked and confirmed yesterday, for today 18/01 19:30. Nobody appears in the airport, no answering calls. So when my husband get tired of waiting, he went to the "office". It was just closed! No answers by phone, no people on the point. The car was paid for 11 full days with full insurance. And is was not provided on the time and not even a day, that it's supposed to be. This is stilling of our money, time and nerves! P.s. this review is going to be updated during the process. Thanks God I'm not just a tourist in this city and have possibility and time to get back what is belong to my family. Upd 19/01: my husband has to ask time off from work and come there again in the morning. Even so it took 1,5h to leave this place with a car. He filed complaint about yesterday. Than they try to sell another insurance on top of the full one, that we have paid already. After that somehow appears that the price of caution was higher than it appears on the site, where we made reservation. Happens that they change policy about it but didn't inform yet that site, okay. Of course we have now all the photos and videos of already existing damages on the car before taking it. Rating stars for now remains on 1. Let's see how it will go with the car and complain. UPD 2: Upgrade to 3 stars, We left car in the evening on 29/01, no shuttle service back to airport was available/provided of course (when we ask, they say "it's very close, you can walk, we are not expecting tourists now). Luckily was no rain as it used to be. Whatever. The caution back to bank account, no extra charges were taken, because car was given back in same conditions as was taken by us. Just in case, all photo and video of "first meeting with car" are saved. UPD 3: And welcome back to the one star: apparently on 6 of September this company charged us more 50EUR for ViaVerde that we were not asking! We even said in the office, that we don't want it a prefer to pay in CTT office. We tried 3 times in the CTT office and they always said that there are no payments for this car. And now it is clear why there were none: even if you refuse to use ViaVerde they will live it connected in the car and then will charge you amount of money that is same as if you were driving 1,5 months (on our car we spend 30-40EUR per month maximum on ViaVerde) They are definitely Scammers, they charging money for things that you initially refused 8 month after rent, so you "not suppose to realize" and maybe even have no "contract" to prove. (But I am saving everything)
They will try to push everything they have( MORE insurance, bigger cars and children's seats). Then when you return the car they will go above and beyond to try to STEAL your money. The attendant told us that we have to pay because there is a scratch that we can't see but she can feel it. How to take a picture of something you can't see? Im adding the picture so you can see the "damage" by yourself. The kind of place that will ruin your experience and your holidays, best avoided and even better closed. Scammers!
Deceptive staff that try to get some extra bucks with lies. They "forced" me into renting an highway telepay system, it's only like 1.50 per day, telling me that i won't be able to pay the highway, nor with cash nor with credit cards, and that otherwise i would have to pay the highway fees accumulated in these days in a post office. Ridiculous...... i also asked if i can return the car 1/2 hour earlier that reserved( still in office hours) and they wanted to sell me an extra comfort package for that. Next time i'll go for a "branded" rental lile hertz sixt etc...... their initial price has not so man hidden fees. In the end i got charged extra 150 euros for a fingernail scratch.
This review pertains to their office at Porto Airport. They are based in an industrial estate just off the main airport entrance, about 10 minutes walking time. We initially made the booking in error and asked to pick the vehicle up at 10 am but realising we would be landing later emailed them to tell them we would land at 12. The acknowledged this and said that would not be a problem. When we landed there was no one to meet us, no presence in the terminal. This, we concede, would have been our fault as we should have booked the right time. We called them and they gave us instructions to reach them. Collecting the car was very straight forward. Their offices, while a bit of a walk, were clean and well maintained. The one staff member that was there was professional and friendly. We were up sold the "comprehensive" insurance. We rented a Peugeot 207 from about mid day to 4pm the following day. On pick up we were taken round the car and shown the vehicle. Pre-existing damage was pointed out to us. I took some pictures of the existing damage (side flank picture) along with marks that weren't pointed out during the inspection. Regrettably i focused on the bodywork as the wheels, from cursory inspection, seemed in good condition. The car drove perfectly, was very economical and full featured. Bodyworkdamage aside, it was clean and well presented. Our journey was a mix of motorway driving and rural, and in every respect I couldn't fault the car. It had bluetooth, air-conditioning and even a reversing camera which made parking very easy. On returning the car, the inspection led to the discovery of a very slight scuff on the passenger side front alloy wheel (second photo). As we had had the car for such a short period of time, it was easy to catalogue every journey the car had made with us and even if we had hit any potholes (we hadn't). On the one occasion the car had been parked on that side of the road near a kerb, the tire sidewall depth had been at least twice the pavements. In any event, the scuff, hard to spot though it was, was already dirty and oxydised and evidently not the product of the preceding 24 hours. After much protesting on our behalf and second opinions they elected to charge us for alloy damage. The "comprehensive" insurance did not cover this. The cost was approximately 83 euros. The low star rating reflects simply the episode with the alloy. In every other respect, they are much like any other car rental company. All the classic tricks. Special insurance, not exactly the car model you were expecting but a nice car anyway, etc, and in this sense I can recommend both them and not renting a car in the same breath. But after many years of renting cars, including with some notorious Spanish costa operators such as Goldcar, I've never had a problem. Quick inspection, handshake, "thanks and safe journey". This is the first time that upon returning a car that I've seen some one inspect it looking for something (he was being near forensic around the wheels), and the first time I've ever been accused of damage. If we didn't have a flight to catch we would have stayed and argued it out of principle. Please take many detailed photos as you can before renting here. Be especially thorough around wheels and wheel arches and anywhere not covered by the insurance.
