We enjoyed our first van experience with portugal by van very much. The communication with the team, especially Junior and Teresa, was very friendly, fast and straight to the point. During the trip we felt very supported (wild-fire season was in full swing!) and the handover was smooth, both at the beginning and end. Next time we'll try the smaller van! (we had the practical explorer in 2 people). The van could benefit of couple of improvement which Teresa was open to hear about, but still it was well equipped and never let us down!

We had a great, hassle-free, and comfortable two weeks with our rented campervan. From communication and preparation to the handling of pickup and return, everything went reliably and perfectly with the company. We always felt safe and well taken care of. Personally, we are not fans of plastic dishes or cutlery, but with a small set that you might bring yourself, that wasn't a problem either. We can highly recommend Portugal by Van.

Great team with a few issues managing the drop off of the rental. We had the Graceful trio model for 4 weeks; it has great features like shower, solar panel and large sink but also missing basics. No AC, no propane gage or sun screen to keep the van cool. Overall a good experience and strongly recommended you double check all the required equipment you need before taking delivery of your vehicle.

Lovely experience, highly recommendable company. Maybe the best way to discover Portugal! Great and reliable company, we enjoyed very much all the services provided. Excellent communication, lots of suggestions, tips, smiles and empathy. Van very new (we had the 4-seat), perfectly maintained, excellent conditions, well equipped: it had all we needed for, we've never had any prob. Very easy to drive it through the country, visit towns and sites, and comfortable enough to enjoy both during travels and in campsites (we are a couple with a 5-year old boy). We highly recommend the company, and definitely suggest to experience an unforgettable journey in Portugal by van: we are already dreaming to come back soon to repeat the experience and visit new sites!

Our experience with Portugal by Van was great. Everything was as agreed. The van was extra functional,clean and had everything we needed for our 9 days vacations. Teresa was very helpful and we had a perfect communication. The safety deposit was returned (exact amount) 5 working days after we had returned the van. All in all,I totally recommend Portugal by van. See you again.

To travel "Portugal by Van" has been a perfect experience We booked a 3 seats and used as a couple but, for few days, also my son Andrea, joined and the Van was comfortable also for the 3 of us. The luxury is that, by Van, you may join places so beautiful and sleep there...great ocean view. See pictures here. It was our first time to drive a camper van but - thanks to Sofie and Andre (who gave us all instructions) - the experience have been smooth and unforgettable! I will surely recommend it to anybody.

I rented a van for 3 people, as it was the cheapest, and used it just for myself, for an outdoor event that took place over the weekend. For what I needed, the van was perfect. Sleeping comfort, a basic and efficient kitchen. No WC, but there was a WC at the event. The internal battery was enough to charge equipment and use the refrigerator for 3 days. The pre- and post-rental service was also impeccable, they helped to clarify all doubts quickly, and everything was clear and efficient in relation to payments and return of the deposit. The only less positive note (but they still deserve 5 stars) was that at the end, when I went to deliver the van, the person responsible assessed the condition of the van, and wrote in a note that he insisted on showing and signing to me, that the van was dirty. inside and out. Now, when you use a caravan for 3 days, it is normal for it to get dirty. The person in charge was unable to explain to me how much the extra payment for cleaning would be, and I was worried because I didnt count on this extra payment. But it all ended, as the next day I received a message from someone else, saying that everything was ok, and no extra was charged for cleaning (the van was dirty, but nothing out of the ordinary given typical use). I recommend this service, and I hope to use it more often!

Conforto para dormir, uma cozinha basica e eficaz. Sem WC, mas tinha WC no evento. A bateria interior deu para carregar equipamentos e usar o frigorifico durante os 3 dias. O servico no pre e no pos aluguer foi tambem impecavel, ajudaram a esclarecer todas as duvidas rapidamente, e foi tudo claro e eficaz em relacao aos pagamentos e devolucao da caucao. Unica nota menos positiva (mas ainda assim merecem as 5 estrelas) foi que no final quando fui entregar a carrinha, a pessoa responsavel avaliou o estado da carrinha, e escreveu numa nota que fez questao de me mostrar e assinar, que a carrinha estava suja por dentro e por fora. Ora, quando se usa uma caravana durante 3 dias, e normal que mesma fique suja. O responsavel nao foi capaz de me esclarecer quanto seria o pagamento extra para a limpeza, e com isso fiquei preocupado, pois nao contava com esse pagamento extra. Mas tudo acabou, pois no dia seguinte recebi msg doutra pessoa, a dizer que estava tudo ok, e nao foi cobrado nenhum extra para a limpeza (a carrinha estava suja, mas nada fora do normal dada a utilizacao tipica). Recomendo este servico, e conto usar mais vezes!

Bad experience, I dont recommend it to anyone. The company calls itself low cost , but they do not mention in the quotes cleaning fees and other fees that they then require upon delivery. That being said, the initial 2000 deposit will never be recovered in full because fees will be applied to only return a portion of that 2000. The vans have technical problems and several dents that are not registered by the company and that cause doubts about their delivery. In this case, we were only able to prove that it wasnt us because we had made a video. In short, we do not recommend this company

I had the privilege of doing a van week with this company. I am very satisfied with everything, from the service, to the condition of the caravan and completion of the transaction. I stayed in the Elegant Duo, a small but super complete modified Mercedes van, which holds up to two people very well. I recommend it and will repeat!

Absolutely positive experience! As agreed, we collected the van in Porto and left it in Lisbon. The van was designed to accommodate 3 people and was absolutely suitable for this number of guests. Available, at no additional cost, were included: sink, refrigerator, camping stove with cylinder, 3 chairs, 1 table, 2 pots, 1 frying pan, various kitchen utensils and obviously sets of plates, cutlery and glasses. The van was also equipped with an external shower, a sunroof, a side window and privacy curtains. There were two USB sockets and a classic socket (the latter can only be used if connected to the mains). The vans energy is recharged through solar panels and the movement of the vehicle itself. We have never run out of energy. The beds were arranged in a bunk style: one suitable for two people at the bottom and a single one above. In the upper one a person up to 1.70 cm tall can lie down with legs extended. The deposit after the rental was returned in just a few days. Special thanks to Teresa, who responded promptly and punctually to all our questions!

Esperienza assolutamente positiva! Come da accordi, abbiamo ritirato il van a Porto e lo abbiamo lasciato a Lisbona. Il van era pensato per accogliere 3 persone ed era assolutamente adatto a questo numero di ospiti. A disposizione, senza costi aggiuntivi, erano inclusi: lavandino, frigorifero, fornello da campeggio con bombola, 3 sedie, 1 tavolo, 2 pentole, 1 padella, utensili vari per la cucina e ovviamente i set di piatti, posate e bicchieri. Il van era inoltre dotato di un doccino esterno, un tettuccio aprile, una finestrella laterale e le tendine per la privacy. Erano presenti due prese USB e una presa classica (questultima utilizzabile pero solo se collegati alla corrente). Lenergia del van si ricarica attraverso i pannelli solari e il movimento dello stesso mezzo. Non siamo mai rimaste senza energia. I letti erano disposti a castello: uno adatto a due persone in basso e uno singolo sopra. In quello superiore puo stendersi con gambe distese una persona alta fino a 1,70 cm. Il deposito dopo il noleggio e stato restituito in pochissimi giorni. Un ringraziamento speciale a Teresa, che ha risposto in maniera tempestiva e puntuale a tutte le nostre domande!

Excellent experience. Very fast communication via email and whatsapp, guys always very helpful, honest prices. We had a lot of fun exploring the wonders of Portugal by van! The vehicle was comfortable and spacious, diesel consumption lower than expected (with just one tank we drove from north to south and returned!). I recommend visiting the country like us in the low season, we were able to enjoy splendid views exclusively for us or almost exclusively, getting around in the van was therefore quite simple.

I had a superb experience and I reccomend to everybody. They are extremely professional and kind. The van was really nice equipped, solar panels gave us a huge autonomy without being connected to the line (for phones, lights, fridge). The kitchen worked nice, the fridge had nice space and made its job and less than a half of the gas bottle was enough for 5 days (as italian you know, moka in the morning and pasta for lunch). Teresa and the crew were wonderful and I will use their vans again in future. A little, little not nice experience with the bed, its just my personal opinion but it was too thiny and needs to be improved with a foam model or anything else more comfortable. But yeah, its a van not a hotel room, if you bring some inflatable with you is better for your back. Excellent experience....looking forward to come again!

We rented a van for 2+1 people a few weeks ago. Actually, it was brand new, with just 2500km, equipped with everything you may need during the stay. Great staff availability for communication before reservation and during your stay. The van presentation is accurate and complete, even if you re very inexperienced with campervan life, you ll be able to manage with clean/dirty water, energy supply etc etc. very important: deposit has been 100%refunded shortly after drop off! I didn t realize I forgot a jacket inside it and they shipped it at my spot in a few days. 100% I would advice these guys!

It was a family business we met Sofia years ago! My partner and I went for the first time and it was super good. This year we returned with the little one and several different people were already assisting us by email....it is no longer familiar and small. They became a bit annoying charging administration fees... and the deposit of 2000 euros that you have to leave is not a hold on your card, it is money that they charge you and return to you but it takes 1 week....

Teresa is the chillest person you will ever meet. She responded to all my inquires quickly with attention to detail. And when I dropped in unannounced to have a look at the vans, she wasnt the least bit put off. Kind as they come. After reading all the horrific reviews about IC and most of the rental car companies, my experience at portugalbyvan was a breathe of fresh air. Ultimately I didnt go with the only van they had for my schedule because Im 63 (190cm) and the bed would have been a tight squeeze. Obviously this review lacks a full experience from pickup to drop off, but after seeing their operation in person, I felt like I could trust these guys. My only suggestion would be to add a layout with dimensions of each van to the website. Maybe they had one and I just couldnt find it. Either way, make sure you address the bed dimensions if youre a little on the taller side. Muito obrigado!
