Don't ruin your holiday! Europcar fails to deliver even the minimum you would expect from a car rental company. We had booked and paid for a car but when (after a long wait in queue) we got to the desk they said they have no cars (for anyone waiting there). After this it got even worse. Their employee said he would handle the reimburse of our money (obviously we had to cancel the reservation). He had done nothing such kind and after phone calls, emails and over 2 months I have not received my money. Last time with Europcar. Lying employees, worst customer service I have ever encountered and to top that they steal your money. Bravo!

In short, we had the worst possible experience renting a vehicle from one of your Lisbon, Portugal locations. In detail, we reserved our 7-seater more than 2 months in advance and PAID IN FULL (US $961.01) at that time. We reserved at Lisboa Airport Shuttle P. Velho thinking that this is the location at the airport. I submitted our flight information including the arrival time which was 6:40 pm. When we arrived at Lisbon airport with our 2 small children, ages 4 and 7, there was a strike at immigration. It took us one hour to make it through the line. We reached the Europcar airport kiosk at approximately 7:50 pm. At this time we were informed that our reservation was not at the airport, it was at a location 2 km from the airport and that that location closes at 8 pm, and that we would not be able to arrive on time. The manager (Nuno Borges) was quite unpleasant and condescending, but he spoke to the other office and assured us that the reservation at the other location would be held until the next day. We then took our tired children who had been traveling for over 16 hours to wait in a taxi line that took approximately 45 minutes and cost us an additional 35 Euros. The next day we called Europcar and they told us that they see our reservation in the system but that we would need to come in after 2 pm. After 2 pm we called and were told that they would not have the car until the following day. The following day when we called we were told our reservation had been cancelled due to us not showing up to pick up the car. After speaking with a manager, explaining all that had happened, and demanding either the car or a full refund, the manager instructed us to go pick up the car at that moment. We hailed a taxi (another 35 Euros) and rushed to the location 25 minutes away. Upon arriving, we were told that the manager should never have said to come, as our reservation was still showing up as cancelled and there was nothing they could do. I mentioned that I could see the actual vehicle we had rented in the parking lot and that my family had been through a tremendous ordeal already, so we really needed to leave with the car. The person at the counter then quoted us a price that was more than twice what we had already paid. Needless to say, we left without the car and spent another 35 Euros on a taxi back to the hotel. After another phone call, we were able to get our original payment refunded, but Europcar had the audacity to charge us a $50 no-show cancellation fee. At this time we had spent over 150 Euros and waisted about 5 hours of our family vacation time on this rental car and still HAD NO CAR. Of course, we also had to rent another car from another company and waste more time and money acquiring this new car. Now I arrive home and find that I have a 100 Euro phone bill from trying to get the car that we never received. At the very least, we would like our 250 Euros back.

I rented cars with the company twice, the first time there was no problem, they were excellent from booking, car, service and return. However, the second time, 01/19/24, after having already delivered the car, they debited the amount already paid again, and since then I have been sending emails and demanding responses via the website, and nothing. The President of Europcar must really feel very ashamed to know that Europcar employees have been begging 20 from a customer for 3 years... For obvious reasons I do not recommend this car rental company to anyone....

Shameful! The way this company treats customers, leaving two people destitute on an island they dont know with no way to get around despite having paid for a car rental under the pretext of not having a credit card, despite having made me available to pay a deposit with the debit card, knowing that there was a lack of vehicles on the market, they refused to help and did not return the money (easy profit). Company without the slightest respect for the customer. Customer support service without comments (1 contact on 29/06 today 18/8 and more than 29 emails and many more phone calls the problem is not resolved). If I could give negative stars, I would. I rented a car in the name of my company from the 2nd to the 7th of November 2020, they took the deposit on the 11th. They only issued the invoice on the 18th of December, after I asked for it dozens of times by email, as I needed the invoice and to make payment to enter the November accounts. They issued the invoice, withdrew the payment and deposit without even seeing it!!!!!!! No one responds to emails, there is no supervisor to answer the phone, I have already filed a complaint with DECO, ASAE and I will move forward legally!!!!! SHAME!!!!!

Attention, be careful Having rented an all-inclusive vehicle from my travel agency (Kayseri Erkilet Airport) with insurance and no excess (the price being higher for that reason), delivery after the hour (the flight always arrives with the car rental closed, hence if you pay more), personal accident insurance included, vehicle pick-up in Kayseri and delivery to Izmir airport, with no km limit, with GPS included, we are faced with the following situations upon arrival: 1 Everything was closed and finding the agent was complicated (we are talking at 11 pm), because no one was waiting for us, having had the local help of a guide who called and the person who ended up transporting us from the airport appeared. to the Europcar stand, which is about 15 minutes away. 2 This is where the whole complication started. As soon as they verified the voucher, they started by presenting us with a rental document with contractual changes in everything; a) They wanted us to pay extra insurance because we had done the same thing at the agency and had to get another one locally. They wanted us to take out, in addition to what we already had, insurance for glass breakage, headlights and tires, completion plus 236.00. Having refused, I spoke to my agent who, in exchange for a conversation and after much enjoyment and lack of professionalism from those present, decided to contact Europcar the next day to resolve the problem. Even the delivery of the car in Izmir would have to be paid separately when it was already included in the price. b) They made us pay for this same insurance otherwise we wouldnt get out of there. Furthermore, they made us sign the contract with clauses in Turkish for which we had no explanation (they only said that everything would be resolved the next day). c) As for the GPS, it was not included. If we wanted it we would have to pay another 63.72. Obviously we didnt bring it and I can say that we did well with Maps.me, offline. d) The explanation of the car was like nothing. Dirty car inside, no water to wash the windows and the trunk has problems. e) Then, to finalize before departure, we still had to pay the deposit, which according to our agent would be worth around 300.00, but once it was deposited, it was not withdrawn, it remained in deposit until the vehicle was delivered. f) There we headed to our destination, which was still 45 minutes away from this place. We went on all our tours without being told what the tolls were like. In Turkiye, cars have a type of sticker that allows them to drive on motorways. There is no way to pay. We are always afraid of having problems with the police. (which, by the way, is incredibly friendly and helpful). g) When we tried to deliver the vehicle in Izmir, we again had problems because at the airport you need a card to enter the park, something that was not explained or provided to us. After a series of adventures we managed to deliver the same, which I can say we were well received and we didnt have any problems. h) In our country, we found that the said deposit had not been deposited but had been withdrawn, which is serious and a crime. Assim que verificaram o voucher, comecaram por nos apresentar um documento de aluguer com alteracoes contratuais em tudo; a) Queriam que pagassemos um seguro extra porque tinhamos feito na agencia o mesmo e tinhamos que fazer outro localmente. Queriam que fizessemos para alem daquele que ja tinhamos, o seguro de quebra de vidros, farois e pneus, conclusao mais 236.00 . Tendo recusado falei com a minha agente que em troca de conversa e apos muito gozo e falta de profissionalismo dos presentes, ficou no dia seguinte de entrar em contacto com a Europcar para resolver o problema. Ate a entrega do carro em Izmir teria que ser paga a parte quando a mesma ja estava incluida no preco. b) Fizeram-nos pagar este mesmo seguro senao nao saimos dali. Para alem disso fizeram-nos assinar o contrato em clausulas em Turco para as quais nao tivemos nenhuma explicacao (so diziam que tudo se resolvia no dia seguinte). c) Quanto ao GPS nao estava incluido. Se o quisessemos teriamos que pagar mais 63.72 . Obvio que nao o trouxemos e posso dizer que nos safamos bem com o Maps.me, em offline. d) A explicacao do carro foi igual a nada. Carro sujo no interior, sem agua para se poder lavar os vidros e com a bagageira do mesmo com problemas. e) Depois para finalizar antes da saida ainda tivemos que pagar a caucao, que segundo a nossa agente seria no valor de cerca de 300.00 , mas caucionados, nao levantavam, ficavam caucionados ate entrega do veiculo. f) La seguimos para o nosso destino que ainda ficava 45minutos de distancia deste local. Fizemos todos os nossos passeios, sem nos terem dito como eram as portagens. Na Turquia os carros tem um tipo de autocolante que permite andar nas auto-estradas. Nao ha forma de pagar. Andamos sempre com receio de termos problemas com a policia. (que diga-se e de uma simpatia e ajuda enorme). g) Quando tentamos entregar o veiculo em Izmir, tivemos novamente problemas porque no aeroporto e preciso um cartao para se entrar no parque, coisa que nao nos foi explicada nem fornecido. Depois de uma serie de peripecias la conseguimos entregar o mesmo, onde posso dizer fomos bem recebidos e nao tivemos nenhum problema. h) Ja no nosso pais verificamos que a dita caucao nao tinha sido caucionada mas sim levantada, o que e grave e crime. Isto passou-se no inicio de Outubro e posso dizer que depois de varias tentativas pela agente em questao e pela insistencia da nossa parte atraves de contactos telefonicos e email, so nos devolveram o valor (claro que sem os custos da lira para euro que pagamos nem os respectivos impostos) no passado dia 5 de Dezembro. Tenham cuidado com essa agencia e o minimo que podemos afirmar. Mas tambem nao podemos deixar de fazer referencia a falta de atencao por parte da EUROPCAR. Ate hoje e nao recebemos nenhuma explicacao para as cartas enviadas, nem dezenas de telefonemas (sao so operadores, sem poder de decisao), nem nenhum tipo de desculpa por nos terem feito passar por todo este tormento.
