Booked here because it was the best price of the 7 companies at the airport, that's where the good news ends. As mentioned in many of these reviews, the lines for both pick up and return were multiple HOURS long. That is not an exaggeration, we were 4th in line with a reservation and it took nearly 2 hours to get to the counter as the line grew behind us. Once I got to the counter the process took an additional 25 minutes. Despite having a reservation I had to provide all of my information (name phone, email address, etc) again which made it take longer. Shouldn't that already be in the system with a reservation? At the end of the long check in process I was told the car was getting washed and I should "go get a coffee" and come back...after waiting 2 hours at that point.... The staff, while polite, seemed indifferent to the huge line literally filling the concourse. One casually mentioned this is how it is on the weekends. Important to note that this company is the only company at PDL with multiple counter positions and was still incredibly backed up. None of the other companies had lines more than 5 customers at any one time. Below are pictures of the separate lines for pick ups and returns.

Very easy, straight forward handling of everything. Cars are very clean and at a fair rate. Returning the car could be handled faster if there would be more than one person responsible for the returns when there are several flights leaving at the same time.

Don't use this car rental! I would not recommend to anyone because of the following reasons: 1. When we picked up the car, it took a long time till we got the keys. 2. We booked a small car with manual and got a big one with automatic. That's not what we booked! 3. On the 2nd day they called us and told us that the car needs to be replaced because of "safety reasons". Obviously they just wanted their more expensive bigger car back. 4. When the guy came to change out the cars, it took more than 30min of our time because he didn't find the address of our apartment. 5. When we returned the car, there were lots of people waiting but only 1 person working. We almost missed our flight !!! No recommendation !

Friendly, easy, quick, I brought my car back dirty and they charged me 10EUR for it. Questionable of it is the best way, but I was happy because they were cheap and I had absolutely no problem. I would come again. I got the car early in the morning and have it back, maybe that helped for not having to wait or they did improve the people working there. It was definetly not written by hand.

The car was fine. Lines for picking up and dropping off the car are long and ridiculous. They are very slow. 1+ hours to pick up the car and 1.5 to drop off. Price is good though and the car was fine. They also charge a 1300 Euro deposit and get upset when you ask for proof that it will be refunded.

I feel bad giving a 1 star review because the rental company we dealt with on Faial were perfect, I will give them 5 stars. All of our issues are with the the station at Sao Miguel airport. They tried to charge us for our rental on arrival despite pre-paying it all. The desk operator was horrendous, going in a huff when we suggested we had already paid. They then tried to sell us additional insurance for 95 euros which we rejected. No issues with our car on return despite a 30 minute queue in the airport, we returned home to find a bill for 95 euros, despite not taking out the additional insurance. Multiple attempts at contacting the company failed, we will be going through our bank to get a refund, so very disappointing!

Check-in and Check-out were ok, no surprises when returning the car. Waiting time was as short as possible, but they had to serve more customers as the other rental companies. The car itself was a bit old, Ford Fiesta with more than 100.000 km, air-conditioning was not working properly and the car was already covered with scratches when we received it. However, at drop-off they only checked for big damages, it took not more than 2 minutes.

We rented a car from this company and 10 minutes after leaving the airport the engine failure light came on, although they exchanged the car for us without any problem. A week after returning the car without any damage, they still have not returned the deposit of 1,200 euros. Not very serious and responsible company in every sense. Also note that the airport company staff was somewhat rude.

Rented a car through a third party provider at Ilha Verde. Ilha Verde did not give us the impression of being reliable and trustworthy, as a result of bad reviews, which are certainly correct. Deposit compared to other providers with the same car category is twice as high (1,300 euros). Front desk and car delivery staff rude and unfriendly. Administration very slow. When returning the item, we had to provide photographic evidence of any damage recorded on the handover paper during the takeover. We advise against Ilha Verde.

Ilha Verde erweckte uns keinen zuverlassigen und vertrauenswurdigen Eindruck, infolge von schlechten Rezessionen, die bestimmt Richtigkeit haben. Kaution im Vergleich zu anderen Anbieter mit derselben Wagenkategorie ist doppelt so hoch (1 300 Euro). Personal an Frontdesk und Autoubergabe schroff und unfreundlich. Administration sehr langsam. the wait at the counter can be very long to collect your car, 2 hours 45 minutes for us... returning the car is also problematic. TO FLEE. favor other rental companies at the airport, no waiting with them.

First, upon arrival, they tell us that we have to pay a deposit of 1,300. (Obviously no one had warned us about that). Only the person who had the rent in their name (in this case my partner) could pay it. He has a limit on the card of 1,000/day and it was impossible for us to pay this amount. We went to the ATM next door to withdraw money (so I could withdraw it too and thus pay the 1,300) and, at most, we could withdraw 200 We didnt know what to do, and the only solution that Ilha Verde offered us was to pay comprehensive insurance of almost 200. Since we had no other choice, we had to pay it. Afterwards, they gave us a car that did not match the one we had agreed upon. We had paid a little more to have a good-for-nothing car Finally, when we go to return the car they tell us that the tank is not full. (They gave it to us with 647 km and we returned it with 643 km) and, for this reason, they made us pay a penalty of 30 already inside the airport and when we had left the car...if they had told us as soon as we left the car with , we would have gone out to the gas station next door to spend the 3 we were missing. All nonsense. Everyone who was with us was dissatisfied

Solo lo podia pagar la persona que tenia el alquiler a su nombre ( en este caso mi pareja). El, tiene limite en la tarjeta de 1.000 /diarios y, nos era imposible pagar esta cantidad. Fuimos al cajero de al lado a sacar dinero (para sacar yo tambien y asi pagar los 1.300 )y, como maximo se podian sacar 200 No sabiamos que hacer, y, la unica solucion que nos ofrecia Ilha Verde era pagar un seguro a todo riesgo de casi 200 .. Como no nos quedaba otra, lo tuvimos que pagar. Despues, nos dieron un coche que no se correspondia al que habiamos acordado. Habiamos pagado un poco mas por tener un coche bueno para nada Por ultimo, cuando vamos a devolver el coche nos dicen que el deposito no esta lleno. (Nos lo dieron con 647 km y lo hemos devuelto con 643 km) y, por ello nos hacen pagar una penalizacion de 30 ya dentro del aeropuerto y cuando habiamos dejado el coche..si nos lo hubieran dicho nada mas dejar con el coche, hubieramos salido a la gasolina de al lado a echar los 3 que nos faltaban. Long waiting time, after which 1300 will be deposited on your credit card if you hand in the car with problems or damage. The usual booked a Ford Fiesta again and again, got a Renault Clio, although I always got an upgrade, here I would say I got a bad car. They also charge 10 for cleaning the inside. So still nice after the holiday Clean or pay, whether you clean the cars either way before renting them out and rent them somewhere else!

The cars are old, worn wheels, completely worn brake pads. Finally, my girlfriend and I had bought a mobile phone holder to use the days we were in the Azores with the rental car, however after checking out, about 1 hour later we realized that we had missed it. forgotten placed in the air conditioning grille of the car, so we spoke again with the operators, and they told us that there is nothing in the car and that it had already been rented, being that it is impossible since the support got caught in the air conditioning slot. I hope that at least I get the 1,200 deposit back.
