When we arrived at the airport to pick up the car we waited 45 minutes for our lift there. The rental process again took another 25. Dropping off the car was a complete disaster. No one is there to see you, they are not quick to return the car and when you say we have a flight to catch they said, "you should have come earlier". They are not ready to do business and you do not need this stress on holidays.
Listen carefully , we lost our baby seat in the plane they understood and gave us one for FREE "Normally you have to pay" they understood our situation and were very kind also , take the insurance it's worth it they won't even look at the car , people who complain literally didn't take the insurance, I had the best experience , took us on time dropped us on time 10/10
Prime Azores Rent-a-Car took care of my Fiance & I on our recent trip to Santa Maria, from the moment we landed, thru departure. They provided around-the-clock support, assistance with accommodations, and incredible restaurant / hiking / site-seeing recommendations to make the absolute most of our time on the beautiful island. We were thrilled with the quality of the car and ease of pick-up/drop-off, and beyond that, the wonderful courtesy of the Prime Team to answer our questions and ensure our most memorable vacation! I cannot extend enough thanks to Prime for their attention to detail, charisma for welcoming guests and taking the utmost care of us, and their support. We will be back! Do not pass up Prime for your car rental / tour needs on Santa Maria.
Even though they mention they will be waiting with a sign with your name, they won't be there when your flight lands. Make sure you save their number and call them when you land. Took an hour to get the car. Lots of apologies and slow service. They charged me the wrong amount of the deposit and took 5 business days to recover. I scheduled a drop off at 5:45 am because my flight was at 7. They confirmed the drop off but nobody showed up. Left the car and had to beg a stranger passing by to drive me to the airport for cash. Almost missed my flight. Obviously there are no taxis at that hour. Just got another apology message from this business.
We visited Ponta Delgada three years back and had a shady and very bad experience with a different rental company. This time we chose Prime Azores. Price was great, service friendly, car clean and in good condition. I will definitely use them again. Very convenient and and great service!
We have rented a car from Flavio, at Santa Maria Island, from this company. He / they did a very good job. We were very happy with their service, with his profesional approach and the car was in very good condition. Thanks.
Very dubious company to say the least... At pick-up the employee argued with me to subscribe for their full coverage for 30 minutes even though I had contracted a full coverage from a third party. At the return we inspected a first time the car with the employee which stated that the car looked in good, and clean with no new scratches or damage and kindly offered to drive us to the airport. She asked to go by herself to the office to take some paperwork. She came back after 5 minutes and could within a second (surprisingly) notice a very tiny bump on the front left side hardly visible if you don't use you hand to actually touch the surface. I argued that such micro-bump would most likely have not been spotted at the check-in inspection. But the employee argued that they have a very stringent inspection of the vehicle before check including pictures. I therefore kindly asked to have a look at the picture of the vehicle when it was last returned so we could in good faith check if that bump was already pre-existing, to my dismay that request was rudely rejected by the employee (<< I cannot share pictures with you >>)... this is at that point when I felt being scammed... I mean the employee had a first inspection for at least 5 minutes and concludes that the car is clean and in good condition she then pretext that she has to go to the office comes back ten minutes later with laser vision able to detect micro bumps (pictures is attached I let you be judge) and then refuse to share any previous pictures of it he car even though she claimed that they have a very strict process for inspecting the car with records. I found it very, very dubious... To make things worst the employee could not find the part in the catalogue and decided to charge 372 Eur but without showing the price list for the different parts, I am not even sure what I paid for... As I started preparing the claim to the third party insurance, I realized that that << Prime Azores Rent a Car >> had actually provided me with a compact vehicle instead of a compact SUV (downgrading) but still charged me the price of the later (this is the first time this happened to me with a rental company) Recommendation for future users: Take a detailed video of your rental car before finalizing the pick-up. I think this company is using very poor practices to make money...
Booked the car via a German Third Party Website (check24) and naturally was hesitant what to expect. The experience was great. - Station is not directly at the airport, but its a short 8 minute drive and they pick you up complimentary - Quick processing, easy paperwork - Normally there is a deposit requirement but they waived that for us and we got a great car (see picture) - There are not many "automatic car" options on the island and this was definitely the top value for money in this range of cars (eventhough I am pretty sure we got an upgrade) - Communication throughout was lovely - Car was clean, new (5k kilometers) and drove very well Well done Prime Azores Car Rental! Ps.: They kindly asked if we review at the end of our 7 day rental, but never pushed and they never mentioned that the car was upgraded (It just felt like a class bigger than we booked). So I genuinely want to honor this great experience
