Pick up and drop off were smooth and efficient. Very happy with the vehicle. Even with some existing slight cosmetic scratches and dings, there were no issues or added charges at drop off (I made sure to document everything via photo/video at pick up). And can't beat their price!
I would give zero stars if possible. Read the reviews--They will find a way to charge you after returning the car. They charged me $540 weeks after, claiming I put diesel in the car. I explained that's impossible, the gas station I went to has different size nozzles for regular and diesel and the diesel nozzle won't fit into the fiat tank. They do not answer phones. Shut me down on my emails saying case closed repeatedly. Offered ZERO proof that the car was disabled. No check engine light was on when I returned the car in perfect condition. Use the old faithful companies, this new company will rob you
Try hiring people who seek to help your customers find solutions. On 9/18 at 6:30 PM my experience with your agent was not only poor, but deeply frustrating. It seemed that they went out of their way (in a passive aggressive manner) to put me in my place. I had a three hour dilema with a flat tire and issues getting a hold of the roadside assistance and a taxi. Then, still having faith in Sixt, I show up to the airport to exchange and extend the rental for a few more days. The agent was not at the counter for 15 minutes - I had to call them. When they did show up, I explained my situation, asking for a little help. There was literally no empathy, just pure passive aggressiveness of the rules because it was clear that they were upset I had booked a new (extended) rental online versus through the desk - that became clear when they forced their opinion onto me that I should I know that it was a mistake to book online versus through the counter. I tried to plead my case that I was only ensuring that I would have a car - versus arriving and having nothing available. At this point, I felt like your agent wanted to openly display their power over me and belittle me in public. I only needed help with options, possibly just making me feel comfortable with the situation, but there was only disdain in their mannerisms. This went on for an hour. This is not customer service, this is authoritarian dictatorship from behind a counter. This agent is a problem for your business.
Always find car hire in Europe stressful but have had good experiences with Sixt in the US and was pleased to find them great here too. The airport counter was super fast for us. Helio was great showing us around the car, giving tips for the island, and giving us a quick and easy return process. The roads here are small and cars get dinged easily, so I recommend you get sufficient insurance in whatever way makes most sense for your home country, credit card etc.
Waiting time at the counter was over 30min. By the time our turn arrived they told us we arrived too early and our car was not yet available. No proactive complimentary solution or upgrade was offered, therefore we ended up waiting another hour. Service staff seemed to be struggling with their computers. What made the experience worthwhile was the car which was clean, spacious and comfortable. Also vehicle reception staff was super friendly and helpful in complete contrast with the service desk colleagues.
Rented a car with them last week. Honest to say that the workers in the counter and the ones dispatching the cars were really friendly. The problem? They force you to leave an extra deposit of 300 euros, and when you give the car back in perfect conditions (confirmed by them with an official document added where after reviewing the car they state the car is perfect) they give you back only 180. You send mails, ask for the rest of the money, and more than a week after you have a partial refund of 180/300, no answer, no explanation. Unless you have an answer to this, you lost a client for life for 120 euros. Hope it was worth it, what a disastrous way of managing a situation like this guys.
Read the reviews and decide if it's worth the hassle to spend weeks filing a claim on nonsense charges because Sixt will find anything to create a bill. We actually had a pleasant rental experience up until the final moments at checkout. The agent circled a 2cm nick on the inner edge of a rubber tire that has no operational impact. He told us not to worry, it won't be too bad and asked if we had insurance. Surprise! Days later, we receive a bill for $327 (EUR298) and they are dishonestly billing it as a "crack." Thankfully, we have insurance but when Sixt knows this, they seem to play these games. A whole new tire costs $150 and I doubt this needs to be replaced entirely I hope insurance companies verify this. After our vacation, we spent weeks filling out paperwork, which really soured our experience with Sixt. Do yourself a favor and use a different agency.
DON'T RENT FROM THIS OFFICE - they SCAM customers. I was charged $500 for superficial sidewall damage to my tire. I am pretty sure this small defect was already on most of their cars. Lots of other reviewers fall victim to this scam. Just read the reviews. Unfortunately I did not have a high res photo of that area of the car. Take lots of detailed pictures. It may not help you but at least its evidence. SIXT should have higher standards and CLOSE this branch. Stop scamming your customers to boost your revenue.
