Worst experience with a car hire company, that nearly ruined our holiday. Really poor and unhelpful customer service. Do not under any circumstances book with this company. Awful experience. I would give zero stars if I could. We booked in advance and direct through the Enterprise website Portugal. Guerin is part of the same company, so reputable we thought, but how wrong were we? They wouldn't accept our visa card to secure booking! Even though the card is seen as a credit card in Denmark, which we have used with other car hire companies. The desk person, she wouldn't even try putting the card through the system, as this was "company policy". So so stubborn and totally and utterly unhelpful. They also refused point blank to help us with contacting Enterprise, the parent company. To top it all off, Enterprise Portugal telephone support was not working. Absolutely ridiculous company. 50 euros for booking cancellation. STAY AWAY FROM GUERIN.

I use Guerin Portimao regularly ( just returned a Hyundai this morning ) and find the staff are all polite & very accommodating . All the cars are lovely and clean and up to now appear well maintained . I notice reviews on here about Guerin not accepting debit card for security deposit ( credit card only ) and photo shots of a driving licence , well that is their policy and it's very much the same in many other hire car companies in The Algarve . If you turn up with the correct documents then you will not have an issue , I never have . 1. Original / hard copy of my Uk driving licence 2. Valid passport and 3 . Valid credit card Never had an issue . Thankyou to all staff at Guerin Portimao .

This is the worst company in whole Portugal. They gave our car to someone else since my credit-card didn't work. So I spent 500 EUR for nothing. Unfriendly and incapable personell, but in fact "b...." would fit a lot better here. I have found a friend of mine with a credit-card, but after only two hours (during midday break), they pretented to have no more cars. Funny, isn't it. To the lady at the front desk, one day you will need help and I hope, the people ginna treat you the same way. Unfortunately, I have to give a star, which is not even worth it.

Had a reservation confirmation was sent, no indication of opening and closing times, arrived a couple of minutes after 1PM and lady just closed the door on my face and said we open at 3 pM. Is this acceptable on a service company!DISASTER- NEVER AGAIN and as they say SHAME on YOU

Worst Service ever. They need a Credit card for a security deposit and ONLY accept a physical card of the driver. They won't accept a card on the Phone or watch eventhough we already paid the car with this very card before online. If you don't have the card at hand because you usually use the Phone or watch, they won't help you. The lady on the counter even seemed to have fun and enjoy the conversation. Oh and she also could not help us cancel the reservation. And that is how they rip you off

My first time rent at Guerin. Everything went well: nice and clean car with low mileage, cheap rental, quick pickup and dropoff. No problems. There are limited parking places in front of the office so often you have to use the red button / 'BMW parking indicator' next to other parking cars. Well done.

Top car rental company, good quality rental cars, centrally located and cheap if you book via rental car comparison portals. Because the rental car handover is processed online, you cannot see what you are signing. A real minus! Luckily there have been no problems so far (rented 3 times).

Despite having a reservation for 10:30 am, after more than half an hour waiting in line to be served, we were informed that there were no vehicles available. We informed them that we would make a complaint due to them not fulfilling the reservation. We were informed by another employee that the vehicle would arrive within some time as it had gone to be washed. This is already 45 minutes after the reservation time. After waiting for some more time, without any deadline for delivery, we chose to exercise our right to complain, after asking for the complaints book, Mrs. Graca Conceicao informed us in an authoritarian and vindictive tone that now there is no longer a vehicle for us to leave as they werent going make no cars available.

Apesar de ter reserva para 10h30 apos mais de meia hora a espera na fila para ser atendido fomos informados que nao ha viaturas disponiveis. Informamos que iriamos fazer reclamacao devido a nao cumprirem com a reserva. Fomos informados por outra colaboradora que a viatura ia chegar dentro de algum tempo pois tinha ido para lavar. Isto ja 45minutos depois da hora de reserva. Apos mais algum tempo a espera, sem qualquer prazo para entrega optamos por exercer o direito de reclamar, apos pedir o livro de reclamacoes a senhora Graca Conceicao informou em tom autoritario e vingativo que agora e que ja nao ha viatura para irmos embora que nao iam disponibilizar nenhum carro.

Incompetent. On August 9, 2024 at 11:30 I went to pick up a car reservation made through a well-known website (b...ing). The staff told me that at that time they only had automatic gearbox cars, I had asked for a manual one. Accept automatic as it is the only option. The employee asked me for my credit card. I gave it to him and he went to an office next to the reception, after a minute he returned with the documentation. He took and swiped my card to make the reservation for the 1000 deposit. In front of me he passed the card twice and took out two copies where it indicated denied. He told me superbly; This card is not valid. I was very surprised given that my card is physical, it is a credit card with a limit of 4000, and I had only spent 147. I phone my bank and it tells me that there is an authorized deposit to GUERIN PRIOR VER exactly at 10:40:12 and another one denied at 10:41:12 (Spain time). I point this out to the person who was assisting me and she tells me that for her the only thing valid are the dataphone papers. She presents me with two papers with a time of 11:41 and 11:43 (Portugal time). I ask him to make a copy of the previous one at 11:41, to which he flatly refuses, indicating that it belongs to another client (I doubt it, and also in this type of document only the last 4 digits of the card appear, which I am going to do with that information). Finally at 12:52 I decide to fill out a claim form (23466291). I inform them of what happened, and I also give them the reference number, the action code and the authorization number provided by my bank. The establishment closes at 1:00 p.m. At 1:30 p.m. I call Guerin central services (+351 21 010 0200). I inform them of everything that happened and they ask me for the first digits of my credit card. They agreed that they will call me throughout the afternoon from the Portimao offices. They dont call me so I call at 4:43 p.m. They tell me that they dont know anything from headquarters and that they are waiting. I decide to call the website I contracted with and they tell me that they will refund my money. It took a while but they did it. On August 28, Guerin sent me an email about the claim. They tell me that with the data I provide they cannot find the request and therefore cannot prove that the request to R... U.... (their bank) was denied. I answer: I am not satisfied with your answer, I ask you for a document from your bank that confirms the denial of the card. I tell you that the next day I was able to rent another car from another agency with the same card and I had no problem. I urge them to prove what happened and I tell them that if they need me to prove that I have not had problems renting a car with the same card elsewhere, I can provide them with the documentation. As of 09/21/24 they have not responded. Note: I attach the information of the deposit made on my credit card by Guerin Portimao.

Cogio y paso mi tarjeta para realizar la reserva del deposito de 1000 . Delante mio paso la tarjeta dos veces y saco dos copias donde indicaba denegada. Me dijo de forma soberbia; esta tarjeta no es valida. Me sorprendio mucho dado que mi tarjeta es fisica, es de credito con limite de 4000 , y solo se habia gastado 147 . Telefoneo a mi banco y me indica que existe un deposito autorizado a GUERIN PRIOR VER exactamente a las 10:40:12 y otro denegado a las 10:41:12.(horario Espana). Se lo indico a la persona que me atendia y me indica que para ella lo unico valido son los papeles del datafono. Ella me presenta dos papeles con hora de 11:41 y 11:43 (horario Portugal). Le pido que saque copia del anterior a las 11:41, a lo cual se niega rotundamente, indicando que pertenece a otro cliente (lo dudo, y ademas en este tipo de documentos solo aparecen los 4 ultimos digitos de la tarjeta, que voy a hacer yo con esa informacion). Finalmente a las 12:52 decido rellenar una hoja de reclamacion (23466291). Informo de lo ocurrido, ademas les doy el numero de referencia , el codigo de accion y el numero de autorizacion que me facilita mi banco. El establecimiento cierra a las 13:00. A las 13:30 llamo a los servicios centrales de Guerin (+351 21 010 0200). Les informo de todo lo ocurrido y me piden los primeros digitos de mi tarjeta de credito. Quedan en que me llamaran a lo largo de la tarde desde las oficinas de Portimao. No me llaman asi que llamo yo a las 16:43. Me indican que no saben nada desde la central y que estan a la espera. Decido llamar a la web con la que contrate y me indican que me devuelven el dinero. Han tardado pero lo han hecho. El 28 de agosto Guerin me envia un correo por la reclamacion. Me indican que con los datos que facilito no encuentran la solicitud y por tanto no pueden demostrar que la solicitud a R... U....(su banco) fue denegada. Les contesto: no quedo satisfecho con su respuesta, les pido un documento de su banco que confirme la denegacion de la tarjeta. Les indico que al dia siguiente pude alquilar en otra agencia otro coche con la misma tarjeta y no tuve ningun problema. Les insto a que demuestren lo ocurrido y les digo que si necesitan que yo les demuestre que no he tenido problemas en alquilar coche con la misma tarjeta en otro sitio, les puedo facilitar la documentacion. A fecha 21/09/24 no han contestado. Nota: adjunto la informacion del deposito hecho en mi tarjeta de credito por parte de Guerin Portimao.

Se desentienden de cualquier problematica que tengas respecto a la reserva, no se hacen responsables de nada, con un coche reservado y pagado nos quedamos sin el por no tener una tarjeta de credito( informacion que deberian mostrar a la hora de la reserva y no el dia de antes que ya no hay vuelta atras) El personal se desentiende alegando que te pongas en contacto con el portal de busqueda de la reserva, 0 empatia, solo hacer negocio.
