Customer Review for Sixt Car Rental in Porto and Faro: My experience with Sixt has been nothing short of a nightmare. They charged me for damage to the "bumper spoiler" that was clearly there before I rented the vehicle. Although the "bumper grill" damage was noted in the rental agreement (see picture), they now claim the spoiler was separately damaged -- an absurd distinction that anyone without technical knowledge wouldn't notice. Even more outrageous is that I was never informed of the damage cost, yet Sixt tried to charge my credit card twice without any prior notification! This is completely unacceptable and feels like fraud. Be warned: Sixt seems to have no problem attempting to take money from customers for pre-existing damage.
Unbelievable, I read the reviews of them faking damage to make money when you return a car here but didn't believe it. Turns out it's true. I returned my car two days ago and it had NO NEW DAMAGE, the guy looked at the car and told me all was good. My original car rental amount was charged. Now, two days later, I received an email that new damage was reported to the car I rented. It's a complete scam and I have pictures and will fully fight them with my credit card and in court if I have to! STAY AWAY!
I recently rented a car through Sixt, and the pick-up process was seamless. The staff made everything so easy, from guiding me through the paperwork to clearly explaining the key features of the vehicle. Even though it was a standard vehicle, they ensured I was comfortable with all the controls before I drove off.
Had a terrible experience with Sixt rent a car. My friend and I rented two vehicles from Lisbon and drove up the coast to Porto. Upon returning the vehicles in Porto at this location, an employee brought a scratch to our attention on my friend's vehicle. A scratch that he for sure did not put there, but was also not in their records (the scratch was so small that we didn't even notice it upon pickup). They sent the scratch to their damages department and he was charged over $300 for damages that he never put on the vehicle. We also both put roughtly $300 as a deposit on the vehicles, which we were told were suppossed to cover any toll fees. After being returned some of our deposit back, we were charged another $27 for tolls that they said they missed. I am never renting from this company again after this experience.
Very bad rental experience. The car itself was great but the service was not. I rented a car in Lisbon, returned in Porto. Upon car return I was informed that one of the damages I have inspected with a Sixt employee upon pickup (the biggest) was not registered in the system. After two months of complaints and waiting for the decision from the car damage department I was informed again that I am to be charged for the damage, which I saw upon pickup. Lose of money and nerves. The car damage department did nothing to try to establish the source of the damage and have not tried to go the documents itself. The staff at Porto was quite professional, but in a way to calm you down on the spot - not to try to resolve anything. They said they cannot call Sixt Lisbon, they cannot show me which damages are in the system cause "it is internal information". Looks like it's a bunch of separate local agents not a serious company that wants to care for their clients. It was my second time using Sixt and my last one. And a very expensive lesson learned.
We rented a car for one day to go to the Douro valley. We picked up at the city office and returned the same day at the airport. Upon return everything was fine, we got a clean report. But after three days, they charged us 40 euro and 300 euro at our credit card. No communication, no explanation.
Great experience! Unfortunately I forgot her name, but a pretty dark skinned girl helped us at the desk, she gave us all needed information and was extremely friendly. Also Pedro who gave us the car was great! Besides the great staff members the car was amazing and very fairly priced. Will definitely come back here again.
