Be aware!!!!!! Scamming people, rude, charging extra fees We rented a car from them, traveled to the north of Portugal, and wanted to extant our contract, we thought it is simple task like the told us in the desk, just send an email and we take care of it... so we sent 2 mails and go auto respond that someone will get back to us, so we called customer service 15 times, nobody answered, when we got back to the office the guy in the desk was very rude didn't want to give his name and charged us 400 euros for breaching contract penalty (Only then we understood why nobody answered!!!!)
Avoid at all cost! I have been renting cars in Lisbon for more than 10 years. This time, I rented a CDMR (T-ROC or similar) from Record go. I got the smallest in the category and old KIA Stonic (61,000 km). The quality of drive was shaky. At the office, they tried hard to sell me the premium roadside assistance for 78 Euro, lying that I didn't have any roadside assistance with my Total Comfort insurance package. I believed them, my bad. I didn't check the contract, which said that I had a basic roadside service. After arriving in Algarve, I discovered a nail in the tire. It must have been there from the moment I got the car. It is improbable to get a nail on the highway. I called the office and roadside assistance, left a message, but nobody replied. I emailed, but my msg for help bounced back. In the end, I changed a tire into a spare, but we had to cut down on visiting places that we planned to go to due to limited speed and lack of safety when driving on a spare. When returning a car, two other agents argued that I didn't have a roadside assistance with the total Premium contract. Unbelievable incompetence. Basically, they rent you a car and refuse any contact for the services that you paid for. I will never rent from the Record go again.
Not horrible but could be better. Booking online is easy and quick. Pick-up at the airport is slightly stressful. Upon booking, an email with the pick-up instructions shows the location pick-ups take place in at the airport. However, depending on when you arrive, the shuttle bus won't necessarily be there. In the email you are encouraged to call a number to let them know you are waiting. Upon arrival you will find that the number provided isn't functional. Furthermore, the staff aren't the kindest to customers. The car we got was in a good condition overall. The only issue we had with that was the lack of widow washer fluid, which has already been mentioned in the reviews. The worst part of the rental to me was the drop off. The agent that inspected our car was actually quite nice and told us we would receive an email confirmation that the car was returned and that everything was fine with it. He also said we should be refunded within 3-5 days. First of all, we never received a confirmation that the car was returned. I had no written proof it was back at the garage and that I hadn't kept it. Secondly, the fuel deposit was returned within 3 days as indicated. The toll road deposit (100EUR), however, took over 2 weeks to be reimbursed. Had I been informed, that would have been completely ok. However, having gotten a partial refund, it was concerning that the rest of my money was gone with no information from the company. Contacting them by phone or by email is a disaster as well. The phone number indicated on their website directs you to the FAQ section of the website, and the contact form seems like it doesn't work (until you fill it out 10 times and get a reply 2 weeks later). In summary, had every step been well explained and documented I would probably find it easier to recommend RecordGo, despite the suboptimal treatment by some employees. However, I find there to be too much uncertainty throughout the rental process to feel comfortable renting again.
That was our third time with RecordGo (previously we rented cars in Bilbao and Porto) and I can safely say that they are the most reliable rent a car company that we have used. The cars are well maintained and new. My advice to everyone is to rent directly from them and get the full insurance. The thing I didn't like was them offering me the additional road assistance insurance because "in case anything happens to the car I would have to pay several hundred euro for road assistance" which seemed quite excessive.
My experience with Record go was flawlessly! I had no problem neither with picked up nor dropped off the car. They took me 100 euros deposit for the fuel and 100 euros deposit for toll taxes and returned me on the 2nd work day. The car was clean outside and inside. I picked up in Lisbon and dropped off in Porto. I recommend it!
On 9th July, I rented a car from Porto Airport for a business trip to Vila Flor. After an hour of driving, the back tire exploded, making the car unsafe and putting my life at risk. Record Go support offered either a 2-hour wait for a replacement car or suggested I repair the tire myself and claim reimbursement later. As a result, I had to find a place to replace the tire, causing a 2-hour delay and making me miss a business appointment. Despite being assured of reimbursement, Record Go later refused to cover the cost, falsely claiming I had not contacted them beforehand, even though I have photo and video evidence proving otherwise. Avoid Record Go. Their negligence in car maintenance and refusal to take responsibility for their failures is dangerous and dishonest. If you value your safety, stay away from this company. - pickup at the airport is a waste of time, it's better to go straight to the car rental location - arrival to the car rental location is quick but waiting to get the car can take up to 2 hours (120 minutes) even with the express service paid and all documentation uploaded previously online - customer service is indifferent to the time wasted and doesn't provide alternative solutions such as discount cuppons or extended time to make up for the time wasted waiting. - service counter at peak pickup times are only maned by 2 representatives.
My flight was delayed from 20.30 to 22.50. Company was informed about flight delay by special form. And they just left me alone without any information about that they wouldnt come to take me. After one hour waiting and multiply calls without anwering by the midnight I've decided to book the closest hotel. On tomorrow morning I'got my car and just short apologize sorry. Nothing more. Just saying our office is closed after 22.30 and it's just your problems. Thanks, never again
