Scam scam scam! As many others reported, total rip off. We had already spent 150EUR on the broker fee and when we got there to pick up the car, that money was basically lost and we had to pay full price for the car + insurance (16 euro per day for the car and 25 euro per day for the insurance). They fear monger you into buying the insurance saying the police cant file police reports in private places so if you're parked inside a private car park and you get hit you are not covered. For the peace of mind on our relaxing holiday we went for it as it seems like the kind of place that would scam you when you return the car. Wish we had seen these reviews before we purchased! This place will be out of business in no time with the way they treat customers. Shameful!!!!

Hello scam First of all, be careful with the exorbitant caution of EUR2500. I had never seen that before (anywhere in the world). As if this amount wasn't enough, you have EUR150 more for a full tank of gas Then, if you booked with the full insurance option, SURPRISEEE when you arrive at the rental agency it's strangely not valid! To be fully covered you would have to pay an additional EUR400 (for 12 days... lol). Go to another agency

CAUTION! Complete rip off. I had already paid with my fee to the broker before arrival. I sit down with real unfriendly staff and they are instantly trying to upsell to me another car. They then took additional money from me when they said they would not accept a widely accepted credit card. I basically paid twice for this rental!! They also take 150 Euro deposit on the fuel and it's been 2 months now I've still not been refunded. Avoid this company at all costs.

Really easy, efficient and friendly staff throughout the entire process. Pick up was nice and quick from the airport, at the office we decided to upgrade to a better car and by the end of the trip we were thankful that we did! If/when we return we wouldn't hesitate in using Tangerine again!

They block 150 Euros as a fuel deposit. Car was returned with a full tank and without any damage. 2 months are gone now and they do not transfer the money back. After 3 calls and many mails the only argument is that the return of the money can take longer according to the bank we have.

Total rip-off. Rental done via additional service within flight booking. I have presented all the required documents, yet they did find at my DEBIT card which has worked on numerous occasions with blockage of respectable amounts within entire EU solely as it did not state CREDIT on it is not suitable for rental. I was presented with given situation: I have paid approx 250 euros for weekly car rental yet given the fact that that they couldn't block the required 1500EUR on my account due to the flaw system I was given ultimatum: loose my 250 euros and do not have a car or purchase insurance for 350 and the requirement of 1500 is no longer required. So totally my cheap car rental wasn't cheap afterwards. Do not recommend this unethical and loopholes-overusing agency.

Located on the other side of the airport, but a free shuttle service is provided. They were waiting for me at the airport and the trip back was quick too. The office is very nice and the staff are all very friendly. The car model I reserved was the one I received which is rare with rental companies. As with most rental companies you will need to 'block' a deposit on your credit card. In my case it was 1500EUR for the car and 150EUR for the fuel. But if you want to avoid this, they can offer you an extra insurance for 150EUR. Two suggestions for those with little experience with low cost rental companies. Always have more than one credit card, because sometimes a card is refused without reason. And always make a video of the conditions of the car, this will help resolve any possible dispute when returning the car.

I had a very good experience, used Drivalia which is in the same building, I guess the same company, just a different name. They collected us from the airport, and dropped us back in less than 5 minutes. Both taking the car on our first day and returning on the last day went very smoothly. Deposit was returned the same day. Very helpful staff, answered all the questions we had. I was a bit nervous, because that was my first time renting a car, but everything went well. I can honestly recommend that company.

I would not recommend it to anyone under any circumstances! When I booked a car online, I immediately took out full Casco insurance. However, on the spot, when I was picking it up in the car, they issued me another insurance without my consent, writing off money for it under the guise of a deposit. Because I made a few scratches on the car, I asked that they give me a receipt and I would present it to my insurance company for compensation. To this they answered that I did not need to worry, because... I already have insurance from the car rental company itself. I calmly left, and then it turned out that the deposit of 200 was not returned to me, because it was not a deposit, but insurance. Beware of additional fees! I booked through easyjet and on arrival my credit card was not accepted and I was forced to pay a non refundable insurance charge that was higher than the total car hire! Easyjet could not reclaim a refund and I waited over a month to be refunded the fuel deposit. The car was modern and well maintained but save your money and go elsewhere.

Today I took delivery of a vehicle for which I had already taken out insurance when booking. The friendly employee pointed out to me that the insurance would be unfavorable for me; I should take out insurance with him for more than 250 for eleven days, then the deposit would be less than the required 1250. A scam. We had taken out insurance for 180 which was of no use since they forced us to pay 280 more (and again they asked us for 480 and by discussing for 1 hour we managed to lower it) because supposedly the security deposit didnt work because there supposedly wasnt enough money in our account. The office is located 5 minutes by shuttle from the airport (which is not specified when booking) so always time wasted. In addition, we paid an additional 55 because following a TAP flight delay we collected the vehicle after midnight. In short, very bad experience. I do not recommend this car rental company at all, nor TAP for that matter, delay on the way out (8 hours) and return (1 hour 30 minutes)

Le bureau est situe a 5 mn en navette de l aeroport (ce qui n est pas precise a la reservation) donc toujours du temps perdu. De plus nous avons paye 55 supplementaire car suite a un retard de vol de la TAP on a recupere le vehicule apres minuit. Bref tres mauvaise experience. Je ne conseille pas du tout cette compagnie de location de voiture, ni la TAP d ailleurs retard a l aller (8h) et au retour (1h30)

Short small talk, checked the mileage and roughly walked around the car. Complete. Meanwhile, a super nice lady put my suitcases in the airport shuttle. Perfect. Gladly again.

Hello, To clear up these false reports here and what should be taken into account: - you need a credit card (as in almost every country when borrowing with a deposit) - you have additional insurance, but Tangerine doesnt know anything about it and thats why they make the recommendation. Since our voucher was also in German, for example, you cant read it - read the voucher carefully and everything will be there in detail below. So all you have to do is refuse and pay the deposit and everything is fine. I dont understand how you can harp on and blame them if you dont just read the entire voucher first. The deposit was also explicitly shown to you in advance on one of the pages when booking - the staff has certainly seen a lot of Germans, as felt (after two weeks of experience) 2/3 of the tourists are German - all the employees were extremely friendly. We have never had so much goodwill when it comes to pick-up and drop-off times. Delivery has never been so quick. We were helped to bring our suitcases to the shuttle (which they run themselves by minibus), etc. Even when we picked them up, the driver gave us tips about the traffic in Madeira and made active use of the time with us - the car was relatively new (c5 aircross with 10,000km) and absolutely fine except for a few minor scratches, which you simply photographed beforehand and had with you when you dropped it off. The car also had features that we didnt order for free (e.g. navigation system). Otherwise, of course, Android Auto almost always works... If we come by again we would be happy to come back, I can only praise except for one thing: The rental fee for the child seat is relatively high (approx. 165 euros for >=10 days). So we bought a used one plus a bag (basically our second seat from now on, because we wanted the same one again anyway) and took it with us (its free with a child at the airport with bulky luggage). Positive: The child seats from tangerine (there was one in the shuttle, for example) are, contrary to some comments in the forums, absolutely clean, as good as new and also good seats (seat 1-4 years) from Joie (in our example)

Hallo, um einmal mit diesen Falschmeldungen hier aufzuraumen und was zu beachten ist: - ihr braucht eine Kreditkarte (wie in fast jedem Land beim leihen mit Kaution) - ihr habt eine Zusatzversicherung, von der tangerine aber nichts weiss und deshalb geben sie die Empfehlung. Da zb auch unser Voucher in deutsch war konnen sie es auch nicht lesen - Lest euch den Voucher mal genau durch und dann steht weiter unten auch alles detailliert da. Somit braucht ihr das nur ablehnen und bezahlt die besagte Kaution und alles ist io. Ich verstehe nicht wie man darauf rumreiten kann und ihnen dafur die Schuld gibt, wenn man den Voucher nicht einfach mal vorher komplett liest. Die Kaution wurde euch auch wahrend der Buchung auf einer der Seiten explizit vorab mit angezeigt - das Personal hat sehr wohl schon viele deutsche gesehen, wiel gefuhlt ( nach zwei Wochen Erfahrung) 2/3 der Touristen deutsche sind - alle Mitarbeiter waren uberaus freundlich. Wir hatten noch nie so viel Kulanz bzgl Zeit bei Abholung und Abgabe. Noch nie ging die Abgabe so schnell. Uns wurde geholfen die Koffer zum Shuttle (welches sie selbst betreiben per Kleinbus) zu bringen usw. Sogar schon bei der Abholung hat uns der Fahrer Tipps fur den Verkehr gegeben auf Madeira und hat die Zeit mit uns so aktiv genutzt - das Auto war relativ neuwertig (c5 aircross mit 10.000km) und absolut in Ordnung bis auf paar kleinere Kratzer, die ihr einfach vorher fotografiert und bei der Abgabe dabei habt. Noch dazu hatte das Auto Features, die wir nicht bestellt haben kostenlos drin (zb Navi). Ansonsten geht naturlich auch Android Auto quasi immer... Sofern wir nochmal vorbeikommen also gerne wieder, ich kann nur loben bis auf eine Sache: Die Ausleihgebuhr fur den Kindersitz ist relativ hoch (ca. 165 Euro bei >=10 Tagen). Wir haben deshalb einen gebrauchten gekauft plus Tasche (quasi unser Zweitsitz ab sofort, weil wir eh nochmal den gleichen wollten) und ihn mitgenommen (geht kostenlos mit Kind am Airport uber Sperrgepack). Positiv: Die Kindersitze von tangerine (im Shuttle war zb einer) sind aber entgegen einiger Kommentare in Foren absolut sauber, neuwertig und auch gute Sitze (Sitz 1-4 Jahre) von Joie (in unserem Beispiel)

They charged additional insurance even though I had already paid for additional insurance through booking so as not to have any problems, they did not accept the debit card, and asked for a deposit of 3050. I had to pay extra insurance of 147, which was more expensive than the initial rental, to be able to waive the deposit... they didnt provide any solution, and in order to avoid getting stuck there I had to pay, the car rental was twice as much. I will never rent to companies I dont know again... Im completely discouraged. They leave people feeling nervous and unwilling to start their vacation. Shameful

Tive de pagar um seguro extra de 147 que ficou mais caro que o aluguer inicial, para poder dispensar da caucao... nao deram solucao nenhuma, e oara nao ficar pendurado la tive que pagar, o aluguer do carro ficou o dobro. Simply SCAMMERS! Dare to tell people that the insurance they took out at the same time as renting the car is worthless when it is written in black and white that there is no need to take out other insurance in addition for the service provider, it s a scandal. They purposely put deposits of 2,500 so that you do not have the amount available on your credit card and charge the insurance companies to remove this deposit. And when you refuse knowing that you dont need it, they scare you for possible repairs if the car has a problem.... After returning the car we even had to wait more than 30 minutes to get a damn piece of confirmation paper for the return of the deposit. These people are dishonest, crooks and I sincerely hope that there will not be too many victims of their embezzlement!
