I got scammed, unfortunately. My card, which was not even used for the booking, was randomly charged. Luckily, I found out quite quickly that it was charged and I created a dispute + contacted the office to understand what the charge was for. They didn't answer the phone 5 out of 5 times. After many emails back and forth, they apologised and initiated a refund. Terrible communication.

Everything worked very well. We booked the car very spontaneous and just for one day. They gave us a nice car. You need a credit card on the name of the main driver! The car had a thing for the tolls pre-installed so it was easy to get through the toll point ( there a quite a few in Portugal). Return was easy as well. You can take the tram from Porto so it's quite easy to get there. It is located inside the shopping center. You have to go inside and take the elevator to -2 (it is a small counter on a floor where they sell luggage).

We booked a car, but when we arrived to pick it up at Lisbon Airport, they said they didn't have it available. The fine print stated they should offer a similar car if the exact one isn't available, but they offered us a much more expensive option instead. Additionally, the minimum insurance we selected online was deemed unacceptable by the staff member. We had booked a second driver, but upon arrival, we were told that the second driver needed to be present in person; the documentation we provided wasn't sufficient. There was no information about this requirement online. The experience felt pushy. We just wanted to pick up the car, not argue about additional charges. The drop-off location at Europcar Vila Nova De Gaia in Porto was very difficult to find. It took us 35 minutes to locate it, as there were no proper signs. For future customers, use the entrance on Rua de Raimundo de Cardalho. We tried calling customer service for assistance, but no one answered. On a positive note, the car was clean, and the staff member handling our drop-off was friendly and helpful.

We rented a car in Lisboa and wanted to return it in Porto. Everything was ok with the car. But finding the right place to return it was a horrible trip. Google maps didn't show that the place is located in the parking garage. The solution is to understand that ,,Piso" in the address means ,,floor". Well, after having entered the garage there was no sign that led us to floor -2. We felt like Harry Potter, searching gate 9-3/4. Also signs to ,,Europcar" were missing. We were wandering through different areas and were suddenly outside of the building. After a new trial with entering floor -3 (not logical at all!) and then asking a man for help, we were told the right way. All in all, it took more than half an hour with traffic jam and a lot of stress. Please, add more signs!

In short, they don't care about safety!! 1) In the middle of Covid, they handed over a car without cleaning after the previous passengers. 2) They provide a child seat WITHOUT Isofix... the child seat we got looks like from the 90s', without isofix, and I'm pretty sure none of the employees would use this for their kids. The long story even worse, they confirmed a car with child seat from 10 am on 6th Oct, but they didn't have the child seat (without which you cannot travel legally with your kid in Portugal). So I had to reshuffle our entire trip... then I returned at 9 pm in the evening at the same day (as discussed), so we had a car, and the child seat. But the car was not cleaned neither inside nor outside and it was not fully tanked either. It still smell of the previous passengers. The child seat is very old, not up to safety standards in 2021 in Europe. Totally disappointing, this unit should not use Europcar brand. I travel a lot (for business) and never had such a terrible experience, and low level of standards. Of course the company didn't offer any compensation, and not even an explanation why did this all happen...

On September 3rd, at Europcar in Albufeira, I collected a car through my car insurance. As it was a replacement vehicle, they advised me to take out insurance which would cost 23 per day and informed me that I would have to pay Via Verde. They also informed that they would pay 110 for the deposit and that these would be returned when the car was delivered with a full deposit. In total, it amounted to 262.21, with 110 being refunded upon delivery of the car - and only today looking at the papers did I realize that the 23 for insurance they informed me was without VAT. However, our car wasnt ready, so on Sunday we went to Europcar at El Corte Ingles in Gaia and asked how much it would cost to rent a car for another 3 days, that is, from Sunday the 8th until Wednesday the 11th, today. At the time we informed you that it could be another smaller car, as we had seen cars on your website for 17 and 22 per day. At the counter they informed us that the best and cheapest option was to extend the contract and that I would only pay 111.50 for the 3 days + insurance + green card. When the sheet was given to me, I asked where the value was that the employee had mentioned, and he pointed to the part in Image 3. In other words, today when we went to deliver the car the Invoice should have been 262.21 - 110 + 111.50, which would be 263.71 but in reality I was presented with an invoice for 342.31. What they tried to explain to me today was that the employee absorbed the amount in the deposit, but the accounts still dont add up. And none of this was told to me, just that the cost of these three days with the same insurance and Via Verde would be 111.50. And that it didnt make sense to rent another type of car because extending it was cheaper. I want to pay what was agreed and what was informed and presented to me by the employee. I feel deceived and quite honestly robbed since at the counter they said that they had already been invoiced and that I had to complain by phone or email, which is absurd, when I was in the store, they saw that I had been deceived and said that they could do nothing to do! I ask for the invoice to be rectified as quickly as possible and for employees to be trained to know how to explain things well to customers and not deceive people, as happened in Albufeira and Gaia.

Sendo viatura de substituicao aconselharam-me a fazer seguro que seria 23 por dia e informaram que teria de pagar a Via Verde. Quando me foi entregue a folha questionei onde estava o valor que o funcionario tinha falado ao que ele apontou para a parte da Imagem 3. Ou seja, hoje quando fomos entregar o carro a Fatura deveria ser os 262,21 -110 +111,50 , o que daria 263,71 mas na realidade foi-me apresentada uma fatura de 342,31 . O que me tentaram explicar hoje foi que o funcionario absorveu o valor na caucao, mas nem assim as contas batem certo. E nada disso me foi informado, apenas que o custo desses tres dias com o mesmo seguro e Via Verde ficaria 111,50 . E que nao fazia sentido alugar outro tipo de carro porque prolongar era mais barato. Eu quero pagar o que foi acordado e o que me foi informado e apresentado pelo funcionario. Sinto-me enganado e muito sinceramente roubado visto que no balcao disseram que ja tinham faturado e que eu tinha que reclamar por telefone ou e-mail, o que e absurdo, quando estava em loja, viram que eu fui enganado e disseram que nada poderiam fazer! Peco retificacao da fatura o mais rapidamente possivel e que os funcionarios tenham formacao para saberem explicar bem as coisas aos clientes e nao andar a enganar as pessoas, como aconteceu em Albufeira e em Gaia.

I had asked for a Clio to rent for a day. I have a Hyundai i20 with 90,000 km. They made me pay comprehensive insurance for a car that already had scratches everywhere. The windshield wipers were completely worn and caused very reduced visibility. Returning from the Douro at night in the rain was made dangerous. When you rent a car from Europcar you pay for a service and the brand and you really expect something else. Unless you have changed strategy? Used cars and minimum service? Its up to you to say.
